Manchester United have confirmed that Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire will be out injured “for a few weeks”.
Mainoo missed England’s UEFA Nations League games against Greece and Finland last week and Man Utd confirmed he is set to continue his spell on the sidelines, starting with the club's home fixture against Brentford on Saturday.
The 19-year-old was forced off in the team's home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in September and while he went on to miss a subsequent UEFA Europa League trip, he allayed fitness fears by returning to Erik ten Hag’s line-up against Aston Villa.
However, upon being brought off with discomfort at Villa Park two weeks ago, he pulled out of the England squad.
Maguire was also absent from Lee Carsley’s England group for the October international break, having been forced off in United’s goalless draw against Villa with a knee problem.
Elsewhere, the Old Trafford club announced that summer signing Noussair Mazraoui, who underwent a minor procedure “due to illness”, is back in first-team training.

Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo also returned to training after overcoming the knock and illness which kept them out of Argentina and Ivory Coast’s fixtures respectively.
Meanwhile, Manuel Ugarte is likely to be a doubt for the Brentford encounter this weekend after he was forced off in Uruguay’s World Cup qualifier against Ecuador.
United added that the midfielder, signed from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, took part in a “recovery session” at Carrington.
The club also said that Mason Mount, who is recovering from a knock picked up against Tottenham, is “making steady progress”, as is long-term absentee Luke Shaw. Both remain doubts for Brentford at the weekend.
Days after taking on The Bees at Old Trafford, the Europa League campaign will resume, with United facing a trip to Turkey on Thursday to face Jose Mounrino’s Fenerbahce - live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
TNT Sports will show over 500 matches from the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Conference League across the 2024/25 season. The streaming home for TNT Sports in the UK is discovery+, where fans can enjoy a subscription that includes TNT Sports, Eurosport and entertainment in one destination.
