Dave Brailsford will scale back his involvement with Manchester United, following the club's worst season in half a century.
Brailsford is set to remain on the football club board, but will focus on his wider role as director of sport at Ineos.
Meanwhile, former Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas is set to take a senior leadership position at Ineos Grenadiers professional cycling team when he retires as a rider at the end of this season.
Brailsford's significant involvement at United has attracted criticism from some quarters, and the club are currently smarting after what is widely considered to be their worst campaign since Tommy Docherty's team were relegated in 1974.
United finished in 15th place in the Premier League, with 18 defeats in their campaign.
Former British Cycling performance director Brailsford has been an integral part of the senior leadership team at United since Jim Ratcliffe bought a minority stake in the club in December 2023.
Brailsford stood down as team principal of Ineos Grenadiers at that time, taking charge of football operations at Old Trafford.
It was reported by The Athletic on Wednesday night that Jason Wilcox will become the director of football at United.

Thomas has had a glittering career, with highlights including winning the Tour de France in 2018, and claiming Olympic gold at Beijing 2008 and London 2012.
The 39-year-old has said he will retire after September's Tour of Britain.
