Premier League title showdown LIVE: Manchester City v Liverpool

The home side have had a number of openings and they finally take one to restore their lead. Liverpool just haven't learned their lesson defensively and are repeatedly being caught out by balls in-behind their high line.

Jesus makes a brilliant late run to beat Alisson to a whipped cross from the left after the visitors had initially cleared a corner.

Cancelo gets in-behind too easily. He races into space on the left, cuts inside and drills just wide of the near post.

What a wonderfully chaotic opening half an hour or so. It's been full of attacking action with plenty of nervy defending. Surely there are more goals to come!

A smart set piece exposes Liverpool's high line. Rodri has time to place his header into the path of Stones but gets it all wrong. It would have been a tap-in too.

Liverpool have been their own worst enemy at times with some casual play from the back. City almost trump them when Ederson allows the ball to roll under his boot towards his goal-line but he recovers to play it away despite Jota's attempts to block it into the net.

Jota levels matters. Robertson keeps an attack alive and floats it to the far post for Alexander Arnold. He hooks it back brilliantly for Jota to guide a low shot beyond Ederson.

It has an element of fortune but if you don't shoot, you don't score.

The visitors have looked anxious at the back. Following Alisson's save they had countless opportunities to clear their lines and instil a bit of calm but failed to do so. City punished them and are firmly in charge.
