UNLUCKY!
Everton have a corner from the left, which is delivered in by Gomes.
Mina gets his head on it well but the contact isn't clean and it ends up going towards the corner flag.
Richarlison tries to keep the move alive but it eventually comes off him near the far touchline and Aston Villa have a throw.
18'
WIDE!
Buendia once again shows his quality, as he gets past two Everton players in midfield before driving forward with the ball.
He lets a shot go from 25-yards out but he doesn't connect cleanly and drags it wide of the post.
17'
GOOD DRIVING RUN
Gray once again makes the most of the space out wide on the left because of Villa's narrow shape off the ball and breaks forward with a driving run past Matty Cash.
However, the Villa full-back keeps up the chase and eventually draws the mistake from Gray, who runs the ball out for a goal-kick to the visitors.

NO CARD?
Cash catches Richarlison on the halfway line as they challenge for a loose ball, but the referee deems it a hard but fair challenge.
13'
CLEARED!
Everton turn the ball over instantly, and Gray has the ball on the left, before arrowing in a low cross into the box. However, it is cleared first-time.

SAVE!
Buendia gets the ball in the centre just outside the box, before making the run in-between the lines beyond Gomes. He is 1 v 1 with Pickford, but his low shot is palmed away by the goalkeeper and Everton clear courtesy of Jonjoe Kenny.

EVERTON GOING DIRECT
Gomes manages to get a long diagonal ball into the box for Richarlison but he is bullied off the ball and cannot get it under control.
It comes back to Gomes, who gives away a foul after a 50/50 with John McGinn - the Scot has already been everywhere in these opening exchanges.
Villa are dominating possession.

OVER!
Douglas Luiz chooses to have a crack from distance from the free-kick and it is a good effort by the Brazilian!
It dips at the last moment, but it just goes over the bar!
5'
BOTH TEAMS FIRED UP!
It has been an all-action start to this game! Challenges are flying in and the ball is regularly turning over in midfield.
Aston Villa have a free-kick from around 30-yards out.
4'
LONG BALL ALMOST CAUSING PROBLEMS
Ollie Watkins chases down a long ball forward, before Pickford comes to the edge of the box to collect it.
He drops the ball as he tries to handle it, and almost does so outside of his area in what is a shaky moment for the England Number 1.
He then clears.

POTENTIAL KNOCK?
Tyrone Mings has taken a knock to his knee and is down for a couple of seconds before rising back up to his feet. He seems good to carry on.

EVERTON LOOKING FOR TURNAROUND
The Toffees have just one win from their last six Premier League games at Goodison Park, and actually tasted defeat last time they played Aston Villa this season - a 3-0 reverse at Villa Park in September.
The fans will be hoping their fortunes change this afternoon however, with key players back in the side. Will Everton get the famed 'new manager bounce'?
