Doherty fizzes in a low cross but it's cleared by the superb McGinn, who has to be the man of the match.
Bale has a shot - it's blocked - and Kane's floated cross is claimed by the Villa goalkeeper, who will take his time in releasing the ball.
Alli tracks back and makes an important intervention to deny Villa strengthening their lead on the counter-attack. Watkins failed to get his shot away when he had the chance.
Kane is left unmarked at the far post - but he isn't spotted and he can only be frustrated as Reguilon's low cross is scrambled behind for a corner.
Chance! It should be 3-1 to Villa! Luiz is afforded too much space on the left, he centres it for Traore, who slices his shot. It falls to Watkins but Dier makes a hugely important block.
There is some concern over Tanganga, who requires a stretcher after a nasty looking ankle injury. He's applauded by the home fans as he's helped off the pitch and he'll be replaced by Doherty.
