Everton get the job done in the end, maintaining their 100% start to the season to go top of the Premier League table for the first time since 2001. They had to work hard towards the end to keep Crystal Palace from scoring a second, but Ancelotti will be deligheted with another hard-earned victory. James was excellent once again.

Is there one last goalscoring opportunity left in this match for Crystal Palace? Everton are now seemingly quite happy to invite pressure on top of themselves and see this out.

Well, that was a turn up for the books. Doucoure played a pass into James with Everton in a threatening position, but the Colombian took a poor touch and the move broke down.
This has been a highly entertaining encounter between two good teams. Suspect Crystal Palace and Everton are set for good seasons no matter how this game finishes.

Everton haven't been top of the Premier League table after three games since 2001 when Walter Smith was in charge of the club. They are 10 minutes away from matching that.
Chance for Calvert-Lewin! A pass bounced through to the Everton striker, it was an awkward height for him and could only loop a shot into the gloves of Guaita. Just wouldn't come down.
It looks like Ancelotti might be about to make a change. There is some activity on the Everton touchline. It seems that Sigurdsson is the one about to come on for the Toffees.
Not one change made by either manager, which for a match that has been played at such a high intensity with only 15 minutes left on the clock is rather unusual, it has to be said.
