Should Man City have had a penalty? It definitely hit Alexander-Arnold's arm, so maybe Liverpool have got away with one.

GOAAAAALLLLL! Liverpool 1-0 Man City: Ooooooohhh what a goal, Fabinho! City appeal for a penalty as the ball looks to brush Alexander-Arnold's arm, but the referee waves play on and Liverpool break to devastating effect. Fabinho strikes with an outrageous hit from 30 yards into the top corner. City are FURIOUS, but after a quick VAR check the goal stands.

City force a free-kick on the right, and then a corner. De Bruyne swings it in but Stones doesn't get a decent connection on his header.

Aguero, who has never scored at Anfield, feeds Sterling on the overlap, the former Liverpool forward drawing huge jeers from the home support. He concedes a foul as he loses the ball, but Man City have started well.

City win an early corner which De Bruyne whips in and Fabinho blocks Walker's shot.

There are just FIVE minutes until kick-off and the atmosphere is building nicely at Anfield. Here come the players...

No matter how hard Klopp and Pep try to play down the importance of this afternoon, it is a HUGE game and will have ramifications for the title race. Bravo hasn't played in the league in a long, long time and he has a make-shift back four ahead of him, with Fernandinho continuing to fill in for Laporte, while Angelino's defensive ability has raised questions in the past. Liverpool haven't been at their best in recent weeks but they must start the game as favourites.

Man City have won 11 of their past 12 Premier League away games, scoring 30 goals during that period.

Liverpool are unbeaten in 28 league games, and haven't lost at Anfield since May 2017. Riyad Mahrez missed a late penalty at Anfield last season, spurning a chance to win the game for City in the dying moments, as the game finished 0-0. City won the reverse fixture 2-1 and would go on to retain their title by a single point.
16:00
Klopp's side will be NINE points clear of City with a win today. It's a huge incentive for the Reds. Considering they have lost just one of their last 50 league games, they would have to lose at least three of their next 26 to allow City back in.

Guardiola: "I just want my team to fight to the end. Liverpool are a team that lost one game last season, none this season, so you cannot believe that they will lose many, but the season is long. They do everything well. You see the team, what is the weak point? They are a real complete team and we need this kind of rival."
