Digne is booked for wrestling Willian to the floor.

Richarlison seems ok now and has returned to the action.
26'
CHANCE! Willian leaves Digne trailing on the right, and bullets a cross into the six-yard box. Abraham gets the tiniest of glances on it but it's not enough, and it flies across goal and away from danger.

Chelsea take the corner short to Kovacic. He whips in a low cross, which James gets too first but flicks well over the bar with his heel.
24'
Chelsea break and an excellent, winding run from Pulisic results in a corner as Keane blocks his attempted cross. Worryingly for Everton, Richarlison has gone down injured here.

Richarlison tracks back well to dispossess Mount. He's got through some amount of running in this opening stanza.

A dreadful error from Keane gives the ball to Willian on the edge of the area. It's two on one, but Willian's pass is just too wide of Abraham. Chelsea try to quick pass their way back into a scoring chance but Everton scramble it clear. Everton are very lucky that wasn't punished.
16'
CHANCE! Calvert-Lewin suddenly gets free from a through ball by Walcott. He has an open look at Kepa from a wide angle, but side-foots his shot straight at the goalkeeper who parries the ball away. He had more time and options there.
14'
The first corner of the day goes to Chelsea, but Willian's whipped cross is headed out by Calvert-Lewin.
13'
Chelsea are popping it around with a bit more purpose know. A quick flick almost releases Pulisic into the area; he runs into Sidibe and loses the ball on the edge. It looked like it should have been a free-kick but Pawson was having none of it.
11'
A glimmer of a chance for Everton. Pickford's long clearance clears Calvert-Lewin and lands at the feet of Walcott. He fires a quick, low cross through the area, about a yard out of the reach of the sliding Richarlison.
10'
Everton are swarming all over Chelsea when they have the ball, and the home crowd are loving it. Schneiderlin gets a bit carried away though, dumping Kovacic to the floor near halfway and conceding a free-kick.
8'
Chelsea are stunned by that, it came from nowhere. The game hasn't quite settled down yet, which is suiting Everton more than the visitors.

GOAL! Everton 1 (Richarlison 5) Chelsea 0
What a start for Everton! Richarlison gets the ball thirty yards out, and slides it right to Sidibe. He crosses first time, and finds Richarlison six yards out who thunders a header into the corner. Big Dunc is running down the touchline to celebrate. What a start!
4'
Iwobi loses the ball, allowing Kante and then Willian to break forward at speed. They eventually work it to James, who booms in a deep cross that misses everyone.
2'
A scrappy start, with Everton pressing high and quickly. A crossfield ball to Azpilicueta give the full-back a chance to release Pulisic, but his through pass is wayward and goes out for a goal kick.

Duncan Ferguson has just emerged from the tunnel. The reception, unsurprisingly, is thunderous.

The captains Gylfi Sigurdsson and Cesar Azpilicueta are about to lead the teams out to the Z Cars theme tune. Your referee for this afternoon’s action is Craig Pawson.

Times might be tough for Everton right now, but it wasn’t always this way. 35 years ago, the club went on an epic 18-month journey from Oxford to Rotterdam, powered by a team that has since passed into legend. That ride has been beautifully captured in Rob Sloman’s recent documentary.

Yesterday Chelsea had their transfer bin lifted and will be able to sign players in the forthcoming January transfer window. It’s a welcome but interesting dilemma for Lampard. Does he continue to develop these young players, or try to bring in more established ones to kick things on for Chelsea?
