Duncan Ferguson gets the win on his debut as manager, and he's on the pitch giving it plenty to the Gwladys Street end. If that was an audition, it went pretty well. Might - might - Everton just be tempted?

Pulisic commits a foul throw. That just about sums his and Chelsea's day up.

Batshuayi slips Mount through into the Everton area, but Baines gets back just in time to dispossess him.

Kante hasn't given this up, and is driving Chelsea forward. They work the ball around the edge of the Everton area and eventually find Pulisic, whose shot is well off target.

There will be a minimum of six additional minutes.

CHANCE! A long cross to the back post finds Pulisic completely unmarked, but he plants his header straight at Pickford.

Chelsea are caught offside to huge cheers. Everton have been admirably resolute at the back today in the face of Chelsea's possession.

Bernard replaces Walcott for Everton.

Big Dunc is celebrating again! Chelsea give the ball away sloppily to Walcott. He finds Calvert-Lewin, who finds Davies with a back heel. Davies tries to dance through the Chelsea defence in the area but loses the ball, it breaks back to Calvert-Lewin who stabs a shot at goal that goes through Kepa and into the net!

Michy Bathshuayi is on for James for Chelsea, while Leighton Baines replaces Digne for Everton.

CHANCE! Azplicueta gets in behind the Everton defence. He cuts it back to Mount, whose shot is blocked by Holgate. The rebound falls to Azpilicueta, whose first time drive from a wide angle is tipped over by Pickford.

This has just gone a bit scrappy as Everton seem to have shifted to a narrow 4-3-3. Kovacic finds Christensen moving forward, and he unloads a 30 yard drive low and wide of Pickford's post.

Calvert-Lewin slides in to win the ball off Kovacic. From 40 yards he tries to lob Kepa, but doesn't get enough lift on the ball and it's easily gathered by the goalkeeper.

Digne gets a cross into the Chelsea area from the left. Davies charges onto it but can't connect properly, and the ball trickles through to Kepa.

A change for Chelsea now, as Callum Hudson-Odoi replaces Willian.

A defensive change for Everton here, as Richarlison is replaced by Tom Davies.

Calvert-Lewin goes into the book for scything down Pulisic.

Chelsea work a crossing position for Azpilicueta on the left of the area, but his low cross is cleared from danger.

A chance for Mount here. Kovacic chips a ball down the pitch and right into the penalty area. Kante reaches it first and lays it off to Mount, who shoots with his right but can't get any curl on the ball and it drifts wide.

Kovacic works a shooting chance for himself, 25 yards out and in the centre of the pitch, but his fierce drive is high and wide.
