Hello and welcome to Eurosport's LIVE text commentary of the Premier League clash between Tottenham and Southampton at Wembley. Ralph Hasenhuttl was appointed as new Saints boss earlier today and will be in the stands to watch the strugglers take on a Spurs team determined to bounce back after that 4-2 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday. Can caretaker manager Kelvin Davies end a run of 10 matches without a win or will Mauricio Pochettino's side have too much for the visitors? Kick-off is 8pm.

SAVE! Kane tries to guide a low shot beyond McCarthy at his far post but he doesn't get enough pace or power into his effort and it's comfortable for the Saints goalkeeper.

That would have been a goal of the season contender, had that gone in. Great effort Hojberg.

SO CLOSE! Oh my, what an effort this is from Hojberg! He wraps his body around the ball and strikes a delicious first-time curler at goal from 20 yards. Lloris gets the slightest of touches to turn it onto the post! The rebound falls to Armstrong who inexplicably strikes it wide with the goal gaping. But he was offside anyway.

It's all Spurs at the moment. Kane has the ball in the net for the second time but he's just offside. Beautiful technique for the finish, though.

Spurs are hungry for a second. After a passage of beautiful one-touch passing in and around the Saints penalty area, the ball is eventually cut out and scrambled away from danger.

SHOT! An ambition one, to say the least. Moura pounces on a loose ball in midfield and looks up only to see McCarthy hovering around his 18-yard line. He tries to chip the Saints goalkeeper from the half-way line but doesn't get quite enough on it and it's an easy save for the shot-stopper.

GOAL UPDATE: Ruben Loftus-Cheek has put Chelsea ahead at Wolves.

Kane has now scored SEVEN goals in his last five Premier League games against the Saints.

Better from Southampton, but the flag is up. Armstrong slips through Gabbiadini and continues his run to meet the return pass before firing wide with the goal gaping. Armstrong's blushes are spared by the linesman's offside flag.

Hasenhuttl - you have a job on your hands. Woeful defending. They switched off and you can't allow Kane space like that.

GOAL! Tottenham 1-0 Southampton
KANE! Spurs take a short corner, the talisman wriggles himself free and makes a run to the near post to poke in Eriksen's driven cross from point-blank range. A poacher's finish.

A long ball over the top releases Kane but uncharacteristically for him his first touch lets him down.
6'
SHOT! There's the first sight of goal for Saints. Redmond lines up Cedric for a shot on the channel and he fancies it from 20 yards but the ball drifts past the far post.

The right flank is proving profitable for Spurs. They're finding space out there. Again it's Son who is causing the problems, but he delivers a cross straight into the arms of McCarthy.

OFF THE POST! A warning for the Saints with only three minutes gone! Trippier heads Dier's long ball out of defence into Son's path and he tries a really clever first-time volley and is unfortunate to see it cannon off the woodwork.

Tottenham fell out of the top four following the defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, but can move up to third with victory this evening if other results go their way. Third-placed Chelsea are at Wolves while Arsenal, in fourth, are at Manchester United.

DID YOU KNOW? Southampton have won just three of their 19 Premier League visits to Tottenham, most recently in May 2016 when Steven Davies scored both of Southampton's goals.
