Sanchez nicks the ball off van Aanholt in midfield, and Arsenal break quickly but Iwobi is unable to finish off the move.

Koscielny crosses to clear a Jones cross from the right.

Jones tries a shot, and the ball runs through to Khazri, who is three yards offside when he crosses for Defoe to stroke the ball into the net.

Sanchez seems to be holding his right leg a bit gingerly. It looks like a dead leg rather than a hamstring problem though.

Alexis Sanchez has been involved in eight goals in his last eight Premier League games for Arsenal, with five goals and three assists, according to Opta stats.

Cech is across to cover a van Aanholt free-kick, awarded for a Coquelin foul on Khazri on the edge of the area.

GOAL: Sunderland 0-1 Arsenal. Oxlade-Chamberlain crosses from the right and the leaping Sanchez nips in front of Kone to head past Pickford for his seventh goal of the season.

Khazri hits Gibbs right in the face witha shot and the ball is out for a throw-in

Khazri has a throw in deep in Arsenal's half. Gibbs is across to put O'Shea's pass out of play.

Iwobi gets the ball in the box but the academy graduate miscontrols and Pickford is able to cover. But Sunderland's defence is looking shaky now.

Indecision between Pickford and Rodwell, as they attempt to clear from Coquelin from another fine Sanchez pass. Kone was lightning quick to get back as well.

CHANCE: Sanchez sets up Ozil down the right channel with a brilliant pass, but Pickford is across to make the save.

Rodwell wins a high ball but seems to catch Coquelin in the challenge. Atkinson is again lenient.

Sunderland wins a free kick after Bellerin holds Khazri. The home fans are unhappy that the referee took so long to give that - in fairness, Atkinson was attempting to see if there was an advantage.

Van Aanholt's cross from the left is cleared by a stretching Koscielny.

Iwobi wins a corner off Jones, and Sunderland put Elneny's cross for another corner at the opposite side of the pitch. A confident Pickford catches Ozil's set piece easily.

A crowd of 40,000 expected today - Sunderland's crowds are holding up, even if the results are not coming.

Jones gets the ball down the right and crosses, but Cech is out to easily catch. He releases the ball quickly to Sanchez, who seems to be fouled by O'Shea as the pair tussle for the ball, but referee Martin Atkinson says no foul.

Pienaar is down after coming off worse from a challenge with Coquelin - no foul, the South African just was unlucky to get caught by the tackle.

Bellerin's cross from the right is cleared for a corner by Pickford from Oxlade-Chamberlain's header. The Gunners fail to make anything of the corner though.

Mustafi and Cech exchange a series of passes on the edge of the Arsenal box, but the ever willing Watmore chases down, forcing Cech to kick long.
