Noble tries to slide a pass in behind the Stoke City defence for Carroll to chase but Butland is quick off his line to claim it in the box. Not really Carroll's game, that.

Stoke City are doing a good job of crowding West Ham on the edge of the visiting box, and Carroll is snuffed out by sheer weight of bodies as he attempts an intricate exchange of passes with Antonio.

Cresswell neatly exchanges passes with Zarate and works himself into a crossing position, but then dithers and allows Whelan to come across and block the ball off him out of play for a goal kick.

Afellay looks well up for this and twists and turns against Tomkins on the edge of the box before firing a shot that deflects just over.
