City win the ball and launch a counter attack with Aguero on the run, he breaks into the penalty area but Shawcross does well to get across his man and break up the danger.

Shawcross slides in on Silva and wins the ball in the middle of the park but City aren't happy with the challenge - the referee rightly waves play on.

STAT! Fernando scores his second goal this season, equalling his total tally of last season. He never scored more than twice in a single season.

GOAL! Manchester City 1-0 Stoke City - Fernando heads the hosts in front from a corner - Stoke are found sleeping when defending the set piece and the Brazilian simply gets in front of his marker and glances the ball into the bottom corner.

OVER! Imbula tries yet another ambitious effort from distance but it's well off-target.

As well as looking far more solid at the back, Stoke are coming forward dangerously and giving City something to think about. They're keeping the ball well at the moment.

CHANCE! Clever work from Arnautovic who finds space in the penalty area and picks out his strike partner Joselu with a great cross but he can't keep his header down. He should of scored!

Arnautovic does well to hold the ball while his team mates burst forward in space, he picks out Imbula who opts to shoot from distance but it's well over the bar.

Stoke work the ball to Diouf who finds himself in a great attacking position but he slips at the vital moment.

Here's a fun fact...

The first goal usually proves vital in Stoke City's matches - they have not claimed a single win when they've conceded the first goal this season.

Stoke are looking much more solid than they have in their previous two matches, it has to be said.

Stoke lose the ball in their own half - not for the first time this afternoon - and City force a corner as Kolarov's effort is deflected.

Hart is almost left embarrassed as Muniesa swings in a cross from the left which nearly drops into the top corner. Fortunately for City it goes just wide.
