Alex Song is on the bench for West Ham after a terrible display at the weekend. On the bench for West Ham, too, is Nene, who had a bright cameo. He's back from the Middle East after being kicked out of his club for scrapping - so at least he'll be accustomed to East London.

Jose Mourinho: "I know what my board tells me and the player tells me and there's no doubt he is going to get his (new) contract before the end of the season. What I can guarantee is he'll be a Chelsea player next season. Last season he was good, this season he's even better so he has time to enjoy his football with us and at the same time we can think of what's coming next. These big guys are difficult to replace but you have to think 'what next?' and I think that is the best way to do things."

Sam Allardyce: "Jose's sides rarely slip up that way, that's why they're so good. The demand of Chelsea for the players is they're not allowed to be off-form. I expect they'll be efficient in every department, that's why they're top of the league. They make fewer mistakes than everybody else. Most games are won on opposition's mistake, they rarely make mistakes and it makes it more difficult to score against them."
