Delph takes a chance once again, leaving Guzan short with a pass. The American rushes off his line to clear, though. Just!

The spell of possession comes to an end without Villa troubling United's back line. Falcao tracks back well to win the ball for his side, much to the delight of the travelling fans.

The home side are playing the ball around well, enjoying a lengthy spell of possession. They have a spring in their step as we approach the half-time whistle. Every successful pass is greeted with a cheer.

In typical fashion, Delph is everywhere, but the midfielder has put his side in danger on a few occasions.

Paul Lambert's side appear to have weathered that United storm. Villa came under some serious pressure for a 10-minute spell, but are out the other side. Still, United continue to dominate possession.

There's a real buzz around Villa Park as the hosts enjoy a rare spell of possession. It soon comes to an end, though, as Benteke's diagonal pass is sent straight into touch.

Groans from the Villa fans as Cissokho breaks forward after robbing Valencia of the ball. The defender has options in the box but his pass is drilled along the floor and cleared.

Delph uses his strength to win the ball off Rooney before playing it back to Lowton. The full-back takes too long to clear his lines and is closed down by Young.

Mata's corner is a poor one, cleared at the front post by Clark. But still United attack. Very little chance to clear their lines, Villa. This is going to be a long afternoon for the home side.

Falcao's incisive run splits Vlaar and Clark, and he is sent through on goal by Van Persie, but Vlaar recovers to muscle the Colombian off the ball. Guzan gathers.
