Newcastle send the ball long with an Elliot clearance that drifts out of play, and then win a free kick on the right with an Evra foul.

Prediction time: Newcastle will win 6-0, Manchester United will comeback to beat Bayern 3-0 in the away leg and go on to win the Champions League here.

David Moyes talks about trying a lot. Occasionally his team does something, but at this point you have to wonder whether it's in spite of the manager, or purely to spite the manager. They proved against Bayern that they can play. Is it a case of cheating their manager by not playing to the best of their ability in the league?

David Moyes: "[On trying to put the Bayern Munich match next week out of his players' minds] The only thing we are thinking about is the Newcastle game. The focus is all on Newcastle. We have to go up there, try to put on a good performance, pick three points up and keep trying to build up some momentum towards the end of the season."

With all of Newcastle's injured players, you have to wonder what Hatem Ben Arfa makes of still being on the bench. When he started his career he looked like he had the potential to be more like a new Zinedine Zidane, and these days it looks more like he'll finish it as the French Benito Carbone.

Alan Pardew: "We have got a real injury crisis at the moment. We lost Moussa (Sissoko) this week in the Southampton game, so of the team that started when we beat Manchester United, five won't play through injury. Moussa has a hamstring strain, and we think that's at least two to three weeks."

After the 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich, and with the return leg imminent, David Moyes has chosen to rest of most of his side. De Gea, Ferdinand, Vidic, Carrick, Giggs, Buttner, Rooney and Welbeck all played in that game, and will all probably play in the next, and are either rested entirely or just on the bench. Kagawa, Young, Fellaini and Hernandez all played some part and still start the match today.
