More resting by Chelsea, finding the game easy. Oscar finds Hazard, who turns the ball towards Eto'o, and despite a few attempts to wrong-foot the defenders, is closed down and Newcastle clear. The ref blows for half-time.

Chelsea seem to be taking a full blown sleep, rather than a rest, on the ball, and are not being troubled by Newcastle.

A free kick is knocked down to Ameobi, whose cross is squared, and Lampard cuts it out to concede a corner on the left. It's taken short, and Willian pressures Ben Arfa into conceding a goal kick.

Hazard is on the edge of the box, and witlessly the defenders back off him as they cover the run to the left of Azpilicueta, and he blasts the ball over.

Ameobi ambles down the left for about 30 yards, and he dinks in a cross that Cech finds easy to claim, with nobody attacking the cross.

Chelsea have had 64% possession so far, which backs up what you could tell from just watching the match.

Eto'o drags a shot wide. Debuch is replaced by Yanga-Mbiwa.

Krul clears and Tiote starts an attack. Yanga-Mbiwa will come on soon. Sissoko then fires in a cross for De Jong, and he heads across goal, but too softly to trouble Cech.

Chelsea with the ball in defence, and there is not one chance in a thousand that Chelsea won't win from here. Willian sends a shot well, well over.

A Newcastle throw forward from Debuchy is headed back out of play. Chelsea then clear to the midfield.

The game hits a lull, as everyone looks at Hazard and wishes they'd practised more as children.

Chelsea 2-0 Newcastle. Hazard scores! The corner comes to nothing and Chelsea break with Willian and then Hazard. Hazard drives into the box, and he plays a backheeled 1-2 with Eto'o on the penalty spot, and takes a one-touch finish into the corner. Brilliant.

Santon brilliantly finds Sissoko, who has sprung the offside trap, and Cech runs out quickly to block Sissoko's heavy touch for a corner.

Sissoko does well to get a cross in from the right, but it's easily stopped by Cech. Chelsea then start to build from defence. A long ball forward is stopped by Krul.

Lampard curls the ball towards goal, De Jong clears to Hazard, and he volleys the ball wide.

Anita comes in late on Matic, and Chelsea have a free kick 45 yards out for Lampard to take.

Santon has a shot from distance, low and into the corner, but Cech can save easily.

GOAL! Chelsea 1-0 Newcastle United. Hazard scores, and it had been coming. He takes the ball in midfield, flicks the ball into space, and he then finds Ivanovic on the edge of the box with a simple pass. He continues his run into the box, and without breaking stride, turns the ball into the corner.

Chelsea are camped inside the Newcastle half. The ball is worked inside to Oscar, in Lampard territory, who is found by Eto'o. He aims to Krul's right, but the shot is inches wide.

Chelsea play outside the Newcastle box and Ameobi has tracked back to tackle and concede a throw.

The corner drops to Cahill and he can't get his shot away. Oscar then sends the ball back in and Ivanovic glances it into the air, and Krul claims. A moment later, Hazard drives in a cross which is cleared before Eto'o gets to it.
