Albrighton is shown a yellow card for what looks like a well-timed challenge, but replays show he comes in from the side and takes away Holtby's legs.

With 90 seconds of normal time to go, Fulham head for the corner. Dejagah looks to keep hold of it, but he concedes possession and then fouls Bacuna.

A chance for Holt now. Fulham are somehow short at the back, and the Villa man has a chance to restore parity, but his effort it way, way off target from 10 yards.

GOAL!! FULHAM RETAKE THE LEAD!!!!! With five minutes to go, Rodallega pops up at the far post to meet Holtby’s devilish ball and steer it past Guzan. Is this the start of Fulham’s great escape?

Sidwell is the first Fulham man in the referee’s book today. Villa looked to be building some momentum, and the former Villa midfielder hauls down Westwood.

Rodallega is now sent through on goal, but Guzan is sharp and makes the save, though the ball isn’t cleared. It falls to Richardson 12 yards from goal, but Vlaar is there to make a last-ditch tackle.

John Heitinga is forced off and is replaced by John Arne Riise.

Shouts for a penalty from the home players. They’re convinced that Weimann is shoved to the floor by Riether, but referee Michael Oliver isn’t interested. It’s one of those: anywhere else on the pitch and the referee awards the free-kick. It’s all adding to the drama.

Albrighton gathers a loose ball on the right byline and cuts back inside, whipping the ball into the near post. Weimann is the first two it and attempts to glance the ball into the far corner, but can’t keep it down.

Out of nowhere, this game has come to life. Truly exciting stuff now.

A chance at the other end now, as Albrighton cuts inside from the left and shoots on goal – forcing Stockdale into yet another tremendous save.

FULHAM GO SO, SO CLOSE!!!!! A terrific counter attack almost results in Fulham taking the lead. Rodallega’s clever centre is stepped-over by Dejagah, allowing the ball to roll the ball into the path of Holtby. The German rounds Guzan and has an open goal to aim at, but Lowton’s superb sliding challenge clears it off the line.

Great goalkeeping from Stockdale, who is rivalling Dejagah for Man of the Match at the moment. A huge deflection looks to have sent Tonev through on goal, but the Fulham custodian is off his line to clear.

Fulham coach Felix Magath was visibly furious at his side for conceding that goal, and rightly so. After all of the hard work done to take the lead in Birmingham, they go and give away a sloppy goal like that. Not ideal when fighting for your life at the bottom of the Premier League.

That’s Holt’s first goal in Villa colours, and also his first goal in 21 games – an unwanted stat stretching back to last August.

Albrighton skips down the right touchline and forces Richardson into conceding a corner. With less than a third of the match to go, can Villa find some inspiration here?

Dejagah has been Fulham’s brightest player in the match, despite being on the pitch for less than 25 minutes. The Iranian has been positive and has looked to create something every time he’s had the ball in his possession.
