Wigan are trying to play their football but it is just not coming off. Di Santo miscontrols and Cork is on him in a flash and wins a free kick.

The cross was too deep. A wasted opportunity and Figueroa listens to Al Habsi and they just watch it go out for a goal kick.

More Southampton pressure. They win a free-kick about 40 yards out but wide on the left. Schneiderlin to take.

Jack Cork crosses from the right and just as it looks like the ball will reach Lambert with a free header, Scharner reaches up and heads the ball away. Great header.

Half time substitution as Davis comes on for Ramirez. Looks like that injury in the first half was more than just impact.

Much the same as the first half as Saints start on the front foot.

Southampton kick-off the second half and will need to come from behind to get anything from this game. Wigan will have to improve if they're to keep this Saints side out.

Southampton have dominated the play but not found any joy. Pochettino will have earmarked this game as potentially his first three points as Saints manager but how can he change things to turn the result around? Tweet me @G_Pavlou

And that is half-time. It's been frantic and frenetic at times with Southampton dominating most of the play but it is Wigan who go in 1-0 up.

Another chance as Lambert floats a great cross to Rodriguez at the far post. The young striker gets up and heads across goal but as his cross was about to drop to Ramirez, Caldwell steps across first and clears.

Jay Rodriguez finds loads of space wide on the six yard box. He doesn't look up as he crosses first time and only finds Caldwell who clears. Southampton finishing strong here.

Wigan clearly happy to see their lead preserved through to half time. They're hitting the ball long at every opportunity. Di Santo working hard to stop the flow but there is only so much one man can do.

Southampton again with the ball passing left and right but Wigan's shape is good and they can't find a way through.

A scrappy series of tackles and headers in the Wigan half ends up with the ball at Rodriguez' feet. He drives into the box but Figueroa tackles him and the ball is cleared.

Ramirez down with an injury after a 50-50 in the air with Espinoza. Didn't look malicious and replays show it wasn't. Just an impact injury.

A long pass finds Di Santo but he can't hold the ball up well enough and Southampton pour forward again through Shaw down the left. He crosses and finds Lambert but his shot is blocked. It falls to him again but Caldwell throws himself at the ball again.

Puncheon finds space in the middle and drives forward through the centre. His pass is heavyas he tries to find Rodrigue in behind Scharner. From there Maloney gets the ball on the left wing and turns Yoshida inside out before letting fly from the edge of the area. His effort curls harmlessly wide though.

Clyne drives down the line and wins a corner off McCarthy. The corner is a good one and Hooiveld glances it to the far post but the header just started to curl away and it goes wide. I think the man on the line might have had it covered anyway but a good effort.

Wonderful football from Saints again as they free Clyne on the right. he slips the ball down a channel to Ramirez. His right footed cross is blocked and as Lambert attempts to mop up, his poor touch sees the ball go out for a goal kick.

The goal kick goes short to Caldwell but as the goalscorer pleads for a pass, he is closed down again. Luckily for him the deflection goes straight through to Al Habsi.

Game finally quiets down again as Wigan do well to defend again from some sustained Saints pressure. Espinoza ushers the ball out as Ramirez tries to get a cross in.
