Benayoun threads a fine pass through for Van Persie but the Dutchman is caught offside as he spins with the ball at his feet.

Arsenal still need another goal of course as Spurs are winning at home to Fulham and are in third place as things stand.

GOAL! West Brom 2-2 Arsenal! A lovely hit from Santos. Youssouf Mulumbu loses possession to Alex Song in midfield and he pokes the ball wide to the Brazilian. He jinks away from two men before unleashing a firm shot that Fulop can only push into the side of the net. More poor goalkeeping.

A goal at Everton where the Toffees take a 2-0 lead against Newcastle. So as things stand Arsenal will be secure in fourth, though of course if Chelsea win the Champions League then fourth goes into the Europa League.

Van Persie it is who takes the free kick but doesn't get enough height on his effort and strikes the wall before appealing half-heartedly for a handball.

Carl Jenkinson picks out Benayoun with a cross at the back post and the Israeli's first touch is lovely as he controls with his chest to elude Billy Jones. However, Gareth McAuely throws himself in the way of the subsequent shot. A fine block.

Alex Song attempts another of his scoop passes for Van Persie but the Dutchman is ruled offside. That combination has been very effective this season.

Tomas Rosicky threads in a pass for Van Persie and he takes a touch before letting fly. However, Jonas Olsson produces a superb block for the home side just inside the box. Excellent defending - Arsenal take note.

Benayoun is left free to execute a volley from 10 yards but his technique fails him as the ball skews well off target.

This is following a very similar path to last weekend's game against Norwich: An early Benayoun goal and then Arsenal find themselves 2-1 down. That game finished 3-3.

At Goodison, Everton have gone in front against Newcastle. This is important as if Arsenal lose and Newcastle win today, then the Gunners could slip to fifth place.

Well, the first West Brom goal was controversial but the second is attributable to some shocking defending, which has blighted Arsenal's season since day one. Spurs are now in pole position for third place.

GOAL! West Brom 2-1 Arsenal! More terrible defending. Morrison chips the ball forward, Dorrans gets his head to the ball to knock it to the side of Koscielny and then dispatches a fine volley past Szczesny from the edge of the box.

Graham Dorrans fires in a free kick from the left but Laurent Koscileny heads away. Arsenal need to regroup here, especially with Spurs winning at home to Fulham.

Oh my. Replays show he was two yards offside. A terrible decision, and Wenger is rightly furious on the touchline. Real controversy here.
