Premier League leaders Manchester United host new boys Norwich City, who stand a healthy ninth after six matches, at Old Trafford.

Manchester United failed to score in the first half of a Premier League match at Old Trafford for only the fourth time in 2011. In all three previous ones they went on to win without conceding a goal.

The first half comes to a close, and Norwich deserve to be level at the break. A certain creative spark is missing from this United side at the moment though.

Nani sidesteps Tierney with a classy feint and goes for goal, but he slashes at his strike and it flies wide of Ruddy's goal. If he had caught that right it would have been some goal.

Chicharito is caught fractionally offside after a neat bit of quick play from United ends with Rooney lifting a weighted pass over the defence for his Mexican strike partner.

Nani is played into the box on the right and it takes a timely challenge from Martin to thwart to winger. Great challenge, but things are getting a bit dicey for Norwich as the first half draws to a close.

Adnrson crosses for Park, but the Korean cannot generate enough power in his header to trouble Ruddy.

Hernandez has really been in the wars so far. The Mexican striker was basically sat upon a few minutes ago by Russell Martin, and now he gets a hard rap on the shins from Tierney.

Great tenacity from Rooney, who refuses to be tackled by Tierney. He stands up to the tackle well, and lets out his frustration with a shot on the turn from 35 yards that sails comfortably wide of the near post.

Encouraging news for Norwich fans - six of their seven league goals this season have been scored in the 20-minute period between the 30th and 50th minutes.

Better delivery from Nani this time. Rooney times his run well and leaps at the far post but heads over the bar! The England striker didn't get a clean contact on it.

Bennett concedes another corner. United turning the screw on the visitors now.

Nani's corner is low and to the near post. Fletcher tries a Roberto Mancini-style backheel on goal (worth a look online if you've never seen it) but it's blocked before it can test Ruddy.

United win a corner and both Jones and Evans trot up from the back for it.

United are finding a few pockets of space when they attakc now. Nani has spaceto run at Marc Tierney, but the Norwich left-back gets a boot in to rob the Portuguese of the ball.

Manchester United have won six of their eight Premier League matches against Norwich. However, they lost in their last meeting – a 2-0 defeat at Carrow Road in April 2005 when Dean Ashton and Leon McKenzie scored the goals.

Well organised resistance from the Canaries, and they are not in any panicky rush to get rid of the ball once they win back possession.

United beginning build pressure on Norwich now. Rooney, Park, Nani and Hernandez all getting plenty of touches around the edge of the visitors' box.

Random fact: On this day in 1995, Eric Cantona returned for Manchester United after a nine-month ban for attacking a Crystal Palace fan. He scored a penalty and provided an assist in their 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Morison is penalised for backing into Evans as the pair tussle for another pass upfield.

Hernandez is incorrectly judged to have been offside as he chases after a ball down the right channel.

Morison beats the offside trap and takes another long ball forward on the runa nd Evans slides in to nick the ball off him, but only after getting two tries at doing so! The Northern Ireland defender really does not look comfortable against the Welshman.
