And that’s it – Newcastle secure their second victory of the Premier League season.

Looked like MISS OF THE SEASON: Baines found Fellaini with the goal at his mercy but it appeared he managed to fire wide. Yet the referee points for a corner following a great intervention from Coloccini.

Last chance there – a quick free-kick finds Baines down the channel, who cuts it back for Yakubu. The Nigerian hits it low and hard but it comes back off the post and Krul collects via a deflection off his back – with luck like that it appears destined not to be Newcastle's day.

Gutierrez is unfairly to adjudged to have fouled Coleman as they challenge for the ball down the left. Everton pump the ball long in response but Coloccini and Williamson have been superb thus far.

Barton absolutely flies into the challenge – great commitment out there. Everton look to have run out of ideas here. Newcastle’s game to lose now.

Newcastle drop deep and invite pressure. Yakubu lays-off to Fellaini but he skews wide – bar those early chances this half, the Toffees have struggled.

Following that knock, Ben Arfa is replaced by Gutierrez.

Ben Arfa takes a heavy hit from Yakubu and the trainer is on – wasting valuable time.

Everton’s threat has thawed as the half progresses – Newcastle, and Barton in particular, doing well in the heat of the battle.

The play has settled a little as Newcastle look to weather the storm.

Huge claim for a penalty for Newcastle – Barton slides Nolan clean through on Howard but Coleman, a second half sub, completely takes the midfielders feet from under him. But somehow it isn’t a penalty.

Chance for Carroll – Ben Arfa breaks and slides in the big front man but he takes too long and Baines slides in. Ben Arfa collects the break of the ball and goes down under the challenge of the Distin but the calls for a penalty are muted.

Another chance for Everton – Osman fires a knock down from Fellaini goalwards with Krul in no-mans-land but Carroll is there to block.

David Moyes appears to have pushed Fellaini into a more advanced role but the final delivery has been missing these last few minutes and a Baines switch of play drifts out for a throw.

Literally all Everton.

A great overlap from Arteta culminates in Osman flashing an effort wide the second time of asking following a great Coloccini block.

Fellaini, who has been the focal point of that aerial assault, leads with an elbow on Williamson and is fortunate only to see a yellow for that challenge.

The Toffees are literally pouring forward and appear to have abandoned the patient build up play of the first half as they go long in search of an equaliser.
