Well, that was quite a showing from Barcelona. It looked like they might be in trouble early on, losing the opening goal, but their response was emphatic. Messi was the main man for the Catalans, but Suarez and Coutinho also played well. The Liga pace-setters continue to show their strength.

Alba earns himself the yellow card he's been trying to get for a while now. So cynical.

That was close. Messi was looking for the run of Coutinho in behind, but the pass was a little too strong. The Brazilian playmaker looks at home at the Camp Nou this evening.

Alba is trying so hard to get a yellow card. With that he would be suspended for the midweek game against Las Palmas, freeing him up for next week's clash with Atletico.

SEMEDO INJURY? This could be a concern for Barcelona. The right back has hit the ground and appears to be clutching his hamstring. This would be a shame for Semedo.

ON TO THE BAR! Vermaelen jumped highest from a corner kick and directed a header towards goal, but Bono tipped the effort on to the crossbar. Very close for the Belgian defender.

It just wouldn't fall for Alba. Messi prodded the pass through to the left back, but the Girona defence managed to get the foot in and force it behind for a corner kick. Close.

That's an interesting change from Valverde. Is Roberto now going to play in midfield? Or on the right wing? Keep in mind that Semedo is going to get the full 90 minutes. He's still on.

DEFLECTED OVER! Alba and Suarez link up well, with the left back aiming to pick out Messi in the box. The ball falls back to Suarez, but his shot is deflected wide of the goal.

Of course, Barcelona have Atletico Madrid next weekend. Simeone's side are the only ones with any chance of catching the Catalans at the top of La Liga, so that's a big game.
