Espanyol's entire game plan was based on being solid at the back, so what do they do now that they are behind? Will they come out and attack a little more? Will the match open up?

What was Jurado doing? He attempted to make a backpass from the halfway line. Suarea saw it coming and made no mistake in using the error to give Barcelona the lead.

No changed made by either team at the break. Flores will want more of the same from his Espanyol team, but Lucho will want Barcelona to show more in the way of attacking imagination.

HALF TIME: Espanyol 0-0 Barcelona. This is turning into a huge match in the context of the title race. Barcelona have created little, and Espanyol deserve credit for that. They've held firm.

Everything is just so narrow! Barcelona are struggling to find width even with Neymar back in the team this evening, but that's exactly how Espanyol want it. They want the game to be played in the middle of the pitch.

This first half has underlined the progress Espanyol have made under Flores this season. They are so much stronger defensively. They have largely managed to keep Barca at arm's length.

INTO THE SIDE NETTING! Barcelona swing a cross to the back post, where Roberto beats his marker to get to the ball first. But he could only find the side netting with his header.

Neymar has probably been the most influential Barcelona player in this first half. The Brazilian is the one taking control of the ball, attempting to unlock the Espanyol defence.

Last season, this fixture at the Cornella finished goalless. Barcelona can't afford that this evening. They need three points to keep the pressure on Barcelona at the top of La Liga.

Credit has to be given to Espanyol. They have more than held their own in this first half, keeping things tight at the back, congesting the middle and hitting out on the counter attack.

Keep in mind that Real Madrid beat Valencia earlier today, with Marcelo scoring a late winner. That means they are now three points ahead at the top of the table. A win would draw Barca level again.

Suarez won the ball in the Espanyol half, driving towards goal and getting past Lopez, but he was lacking in support and the home side were able to crowd him out inside the box.

Caicedo probably should have been expecting that, making a run to the near post. Instead, he hesitated to make the move and Pique was given the chance to make the tackle.
