Barcelona draw level with Real Madrid at the top of La Liga once again, with the Catalans ahead on the basis of the head to head record. Espanyol proved tough opposition for much of the match, but defensive errors cost them and Barcelona exploited that. They did what they needed to do.
FULL TIME: Espanyol 0-3 Barcelona.
MESSI TURN AND SHOT! The Barcelona number 10 collected the ball on the edge of the box with his back to goal, turned and got the shot away, but it was straight at Lopez.
Just two minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.
Neymar slipped just at the wrong moment. The Brazilian was released in behind the Espanyol defence by Suarez, but he lost his footing just as he tried to get the shot away on goal.
This scoreline now flatters Barcelona. They had a game on their hands tonight, with Espanyol holding their own, but defensive mistakes have cost the hosts in the derby.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Espanyol 0 Barcelona 3 (87 mins - Luis Suarez). It's another mistake and it's another Barcelona goal! Suarez pounced when Martin made a mess of his clearance and finished past Lopez to put his team three goals up. The points are most certainly in the bag now.

Can Espanyol find a goal to at least put Barcelona under pressure for the final five minutes of this match? They have shown a lack of ambition since losing that opening goal.
By no stretch have Barcelona been at their best this evening, but this has been a shrewd performance. They recognise that they needed to take their chances and that's what they have done.
ATTEMPT AT GOAL! Roberto puts everything he's got into a shot from about 20 yards out, but it was straight at Lopez and the Espanyol goalkeeper gets his body behind it to make the save.
Where Barcelona have the advantage over Real Madrid is that while Real Madrid will be playing in the Champions League semis this week, Barcelona will be resting up. Could that be telling?
Barcelona make their first change of the match with the points secured, with Mascherano coming on to replace Gomes.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Espanyol 0 Barcelona 2 (76 mins - Ivan Rakitic). That goal should kill this game as a contest! Messi picks up the ball deep and drives forward before feeding Rakitic, who rolled the ball into the corner of the net, fooling Lopez.

It now looks like Barcelona are trying to take the sting out of this game by knocking the ball around, sucking the tempo and intensity out of the encounter the best they can. Wise.
Both Pique and Busquets have had excellent games for Barcelona so far this evening. The Catalans look so much more balanced when those two are in the starting lineup.
This result, if it stays the way it is, will see Barcelona once again draw level with Real Madrid at the top of La Liga. Real Madrid beat Valencia earlier in the day to edge ahead.
