That result keeps Barcelona within touching distance of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga. They needed a win this evening. Anything else would have dealt a major blow to their title hopes, but it wasn't all positive. Lucho will be concerned with how his team defender at times tonight, especially against a Valencia side with just 10 men in the second half.

FULL TIME: Barcelona 4-2 Valencia

This has been an extremely entertaining match. Valencia went toe-to-toe with Barcelona in the first half, going into the break at 2-2, but the red card shown to Mangala has really cost them.

Just two minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 4 (89 mins - Andre Gomes) Valencia 2. Gomes finally gets his first goal for Barcelona and it has come against his former club! It was made by Neymar, though, picking out Gomes with a perfect pass, giving the midfielder a simple finish.

Is there one final chance for Valencia left in this match? They have exposed Barcelona more than once, but it has been much more difficult for them with just 10 men on the field.

Messi is booked and that yellow card means that he will miss Barcelona's game against Granada after the international break. Did he want that?

The home crowd inside Camp Nou roars on Messi has he dribbles past one, two, three Valencia players. In the end it's Neymar who takes the shot, but he shoots over the target.

Messi is working so hard to win the ball back whenever Barcelona lose it. The Argentine is setting an example for the rest of the team. This has been in contract to his performance at the Riazor last weekend.

That was somewhat surprising. Neymar actually ran over the freekick and left it to Suarez, but the former Liverpool striker only succeeded in sending his strike into the wall.

Barcelona will have freekick right on the edge of the Valencia penalty area following a foul on Suarez. Who will take this one - Messi or Neymar? The two are standing over it.

While Barcelona are undoubtedly in control of this match, they are only 3-2 up against a team with 10 men. That will be of some concern to Lucho. This game isn't won yet.

What a waste. Valencia had a set piece in a dangerous position 20 yarsd out, but Parejo slips as he runs up to take it and the ball drifts harmlessly into the hands of Ter Stegen.

That's not really the impression I was talking about. Gomes is booked just minutes after he came on for a tackle on Gaya.

OFF THE POST! Neymar takes his turn on freekick duty, curling a shot towards the Valencia goal from the edge of the box, but his effort comes back off the outside of the post.

And Lucho also makes a change, with Gomes replacing Rafinha. The midfielder could do with making an impression against his former side.

HOW DID SUAREZ MISS? Messi's shot from a tight angle is saved by Alves, but the ball falls at the feet of Suarez eight yards out. He somehow manages to send it wide, though.
