Ballon d'Or 2015: Neymar: Myself, Messi and Suarez should make up top three
ByTNT Sports
Neymar believes Barcelona deserve to dominate the Ballon d'Or shortlist with the MSN attacking trio of himself, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez deserving the top three spots in the final shortlist.
Cristiano Ronaldo won his third Ballon d'Or last year, and is expected to be among the usual suspects shortlisted for the award alongside Messi and Neymar, but the Brazil forward has suggested Spanish and European champions should dominate the votes.
A 6-1 gutting of Roma in the Champions League, with two goals each for Suarez and Messi carried Barcelona's famed MSN trio to 121 goals in 2015 - Real Madrid's entire team have contributed 'only' 106.
That quickly became 125 on Saturday evening with Neymar scoring twice and Suarez and Messi scoring in the 4-0 flogging of Real Sociedad in Liga.
"Yes, I think that I deserve to be (amongst the finalists) because of the way I'm playing," said Neymar in Marca.
"I'd be happy if all three of us could make up the final three. If you look at the records we're breaking, and what we're achieving, the three of us should be up there.
"I've never played football to be the best player in the world, or to win the Ballon d'Or.
"I've always just played with the idea of continually getting better, to always surpass my goals, to always be better, play better, train better.
"To be the best in the world is the direct result of all of this work. If today I'm being spoken of in such terms, it's a clear sign that what I'm doing is working."
