Granero, the former Real Madrid and QPR player (there aren't many of those), has been impressive in this first half. But this time his freekick shot drifts well over the target. Poor, really.

The away side are controlling the contest at the moment. But the problem for Real Sociedad this far has been creating goalscoring opportunities. They need more invention in the final third.

I have no idea what's going on here. Victor Bernandez, the Deportivo assistant, is going absolutely nuts at Moyes on the touchline. And Moyes looks bemused by the whole episode as well.

Good save from Fabricio! Vela beats the offside trap to get in behind the Deportivo La Coruna defence, but the Mexican's shot is tipped over the bar by the goalkeeper. Decent effort.

With Vela and Agirrtexe up front this looks like a straight-forward 4-4-2 from Moyes. And to think he was reluctant to use such a system at Manchester United.

The away side have probably been the better team in this first half so far. They are certainly have more efforts on goal, but that's not to say that they have come close to breaking through.

Granero clips a cautious freekick into the Deportivo penalty area, but Sidnei clears with a tentative header. Castro meets the rebound on the volley but it flies well over the crossbar.

Vela is tenacious in the tackle and fizzes a cross-cum-shot into the six yard box. However, not one of his teammates throw themselves at the ball and it zips out the other side of the box.

Ansotegi almost loses the ball under his feet as the last man of defence, but he recovers just in time to make the pass to Martinez in the right back position. And he breathes a sigh of relief.

Good chance for Real Sociedad. Canales plays a pass forward for Vela to chase, but the Mexican doesn't quite have the pace and the home side defence can deal with the attack.

Dominguez spreads the play with a run to the right wing but his cross into the box is turned behind by Elustondo, who do well to recognise the danger around him. Good defending.

Indeed, with such injuries in defence Real Sociedad look distinctly shaky at the back. That's something that Deportivo La Coruna will be looking to exploit this evening.

Moyes has had to throw together a makeshift defence following injuries to two of his best centre-backs. So there are midfielders and wingers in there. Where have we heard that before? Moyes has to deal with defensive crisis.

Castro has a great chance to sling a freekick into the danger area, but his delivery is really poor and his cross hits the one-man wall. That's right. The ONE man wall. Oh dear.

Cavaleiro looks to get in behind the Real Sociedad defence, but the flag is up against the Deportivo forward and the play is brought back for a freekick. A high line from a Moyes side? Never!

Vela has been quiet in the opening 20 minutes or so of this game. The Mexican has become the star of this Real Sociedad side over he past year or so, but inspiration has been thin on the ground tonight.

The home side try to up the tempo of their game through Dominguez in the centre of midfield. Sociedad have certainly started the better of the two teams, especially from an attacking perspective.

The atmosphere inside the Riazor is somewhat subdued. There isn't much of a crowd at the game. This is the free-to-air match in Spain this weekend. Looks like most have stayed at home to watch it.

Of course, Deportivo are down at the wrong end of the Spanish Liga table as well. The quality of this game has actually been pretty high, higher than their league positions indicate.

Fabricio was appealing for an offside rom Agirretxe on that last chance. And the goalkeeper has a case as well, because the Real Sociedad striker ducked right in front of him. Err, interferance?
