Liege are stunned here, as well they might be. If they don't tighten up on their right side and quick Arsenal might be in with a shout of replicating their 7-0 hammering of Liege in the 1993-94 Cup Winners Cup.

GOAL! Arsenal 3 (Willock 22) Standard Liege 0
It's three! Arsenal are creating havoc on the left. Nelson cuts in and unloads a shot again from the left. It's blocked but falls to Willock in the area, who controls it instantly and tucks it into the bottom right corner!

Liege almost reply instantly, whipping in a free-kick from the left that fizzes across the Arsenal six-yard box before deflecting out for a corner. Straight after Arsenal's second, a Tierney cross from the left again found Willock, who could only direct the ball over the bar with his right from eight yards out.

GOAL! Arsenal 2 (Martinelli 16) Standard Liege 0
It's two! A cross from Nelson on the left lands at the feet of Martinelli. He steps out of one challenge, pirouettes, and then plants a right footed shot into the far corner. He's on a hat-trick already!

GOAL! Arsenal 1 (Martinelli 13) Standard Liege 0
This is a lovely goal. Tierney whips in a delicious cross from the left, right across the front post, and Martinelli darts across the six yard box to glance his header unstoppably into the net.

Liege have their first bout of steady possession, and win a corner down the Arsenal right. Martinez flaps at it and Laifis wins the header, but can't direct it at goal before it's eventually hooked over the bar for a goal kick.
9'
Arsenal win the first corner as Laifis dispossesses Bellerin. Liege clear easily.
7'
Another long drive from Nelson after cutting in from the left, safely gathered by Milinkovic-Savic. There's driving rain in North London tonight, so it's well worth skidding in a few shots at the goalkeeper in these conditions.
6'
A sniff of a chance for Willock, who's played into the area by Martinelli, but he can't bring the ball under control and it ricochets out for a goal kick.
4'
A first sighter for Nelson, who cuts in from the left and launches a twenty yard drive well over the bar.
2'
Early possession for Arsenal at a slightly muted Emirates Stadium, though the Liege fans are making a pleasant enough low hum in their corner.

Peep peep, we're off!

Uefa's stirring music is done, the players are just going through the obligatory handshakes before we get going.
19:55
Tonight’s captains Hector Bellerin and Paul-Jose Mpoku are ready to lead out the two teams. Your referee for tonight’s shenanigans will be Sandro Scharer of Switzerland.
19:50
Arsenal and Standard Liege have faced each other on four occasions in European competition, with Arsenal winning on each occasion and scoring 15 goals in the process. Arsenal's 7-0 victory away to Standard Liege on their way to winning the 1993-94 European Cup Winners Cup is their joint highest winning margin in European competition.
19:45
Tonight’s visitors were once runners-up in the European Cup Winners Cup, losing to Barcelona in a bad-tempered final in 1982. Standard Liege are currently second place in Belgium's First Division A and beat Vitoria de Guimaraes 2-0 in their opening game of Group F. Liege’s manager is former player and Belgian goalkeeping legend Michel Preud’homme, who was voted onto FIFA’s All-Star Team for the 1994 World Cup.
19:40
Arsenal’s manager Unai Emery cleaned up in the Europa League with Sevilla, winning it three times on the spin between 2014-16. However, his Midas touch disappeared in Baku in May, when Arsenal were walloped 4-1 by Chelsea in the all-English final. No manager knows their way around this competition better than Emery – can he guide Arsenal to a shot at redemption in Gdansk next year?
19:36
Moroccan international Mehdi Carcela started on matchday one but is on the bench tonight for Standard Liege, who look to be setting up in a 4-5-1 formation.
19:30
Hector Bellerin captains Arsenal for the first time this evening. Reiss Nelson also returns and there’s another chance for Kieran Tierney after his lengthy lay-off held up his Arsenal debut until the end of September. In all there are 10 changes from the Arsenal starting team that drew 1-1 at Old Trafford on Monday, with their exciting batch of youngsters set to harvest experience in this years’ Europa League.
