The highest-profile omission for the UEFA Women's Championship so far came as Montse Tome announced her Spain squad, with record goalscorer Jenni Hermoso being left out of Euro 2025. The 35-year-old was involved in all qualification fixtures, but has not featured for the national side since October 2024. Hermoso was part of the Spain squad that won the 2023 World Cup.

Record Spain goalscorer Jenni Hermoso has been left out of Montse Tome's squad for the upcoming European Championships.
The forward has scored 57 goals in 123 appearances for Spain, and was a key part of the side's World Cup success in 2023.
The 35-year-old, currently plying her trade for Mexican side Tigres, was kissed without consent by former Spain football federation president Luis Rubiales following the final against England in Sydney. Rubiales was found guilty of sexual assault in February 2025.
Hermoso has not played for Spain since October 2024, and was not involved as the team won five of their six Nations League matches in 2025.
In a press conference for the squad announcement, Tome said that competition for places is the reason for Hermoso's absence.
"I understand Jenni is an important player," she said.
"I spoke with her at the beginning of the year about her situation and we have done the same work with her as with everyone else."

She continued: "We have assessed her performances for Tigres and spoken with her coach, but in her position, we have Patri [Guijarro], Aitana [BonmatĂ], Alexia [Putellas], Maite [Zubieta], Vicky [LĂłpez] and even Mariona [Caldentey] or [Claudia] Pina can come in there.
"It's hard to pick 23 players, but we do the job professionally and at the end of the day, that is what we have chosen."
A core of the squad will come from Barcelona, who have 10 players including Ballon d'Or winners Aitana BonmatĂ and Alexia Putellas in Tome's Euros camp.

"I feel the team has the capacity to go all the way," Tome said. "That's the objective, to compete to win, but football is what it is, with the best 16 teams in Europe all there.
"We will work on short-term objectives: training well from the start and from there competing against Japan in our final friendly and then focus on getting through the group.
"You can't think about being in a final before the group stages. We face three sides in Belgium, Italy and Portugal who can generate problems. We're going to work hard to go as far as possible."
Spain will face rivals Portugal in the opening game of Group B on July 3, and face Belgium on July 7 and close out the group stage against Italy on July 11.
