For a long while this looked like being a real test for Real Madrid, a game that might even lose, but their second half performance saw them accelerate away from Leganes and given themselves a good chance of making the quarter finals of the Copa del Rey. Vinicius and Odriozola were the standouts.

To Real Madrid's credit they have continued to press in this second half and they will take a commanding lead into the second leg that should see them progress to the quarters.

Wide from Isco! The ball fell to the playmaker 20 yards out, his snapshot might have caught Cuellar off guard, but the low effort flashes wide of the near post. Still 3-0 to Real.

Vinicius will probably be on the back pages tomorrow, but Odriozola has probably been Real Madrid's best player this evening. Even in the first half, he was an effective outlet.

This will ease some of the pressure on Solari, but Real Madrid face a tough run of fixtures in La Liga over the next few weeks. He's not quite out of the firing line just yet.

This could have been a tricky game for Real Madrid, and it looked like being so in the first half. But they have taken control of things in the second half and this will be a comfortable win.

Valverde goes into the referee's book for a late challenge. No complaints there.

Solari makes one final change and Cristo comes on for Benzema, who gets a standing ovation. Those have been rare of late.

Chance for Braithwaite! That was an opportunity for the Leganes man to give his side a lifeline for the second leg, but Navas makes the save from Braithwaite's header. Still has a clean sheet.

This is the perfect situation for Diaz to make his Real Madrid debut. 3-0 up and coasting, this should be an easy induction to life at his new club. The hosts are well on top now.

Here comes he newbie and Diaz comes on to replace Vinicius fresh from that stunning goal.

That goal has the Santiago Bernabeu on its feet. Wonderful finish from Vinicius, who has so much potential. If he can work on his finishing then Real Madrid will have a superstar on their hands.

He might not have found the net (yet), but Benzema has played well this evening. His hold up game and overall play has been impressive, even if a cutting edge has been lacking.

It looks like Diaz might be about to come on for his Real Madrid debut. He only signed from Manchester City on Monday, but the midfielder appears to be getting some instructions.

Leganes must regret that they didn't make the most of their good spell of play in the first half. They were arguably the better team before the break, but that seems a long time ago.
