BIG CALL! Gaspar goes down inside the Barcelona area, or at least he thinks it was in the area. In the end the referee awards a freekick on the edge of the box rather than a penalty.

HALF TIME: Hercules 0-0 Barcelona. That was a dismal half of football. Barcelona have barely created anything. They have had a handful of shots and none of them have bothered the keeper.

That will probably go down as the best chance of the match so far. But that only illustrates how few chances there have been. Barcelona have been poor in front of goal.

FREE HEADER! That was an opportunity for the home side to edge ahead before the half time break. There was a free header, but the Hercules player could only glance it wide.

The home fans are actually cheering every pass that the Hercules players are making. They're enjoying this one. That just shows how poor Barcelona have been so far.

What an atrocious touch. The ball was played into Rafinha on the edge of the Hercules penalty area, but it simply bounced off the midfielder and the chance was gone for Barca.

Rafinha has been quite for Barcelona this evening. He's one of the more senior players in the team. He brings something different, but does he have the ability to control a game like this?

The most damning thing about this Barcelona performance in the first half is how they have created so few chances in front of goal. Other than an Alcacer freekick they have had nothing.

This is also a big chance for Denis to stake a claim. The midfielder has been something of a fringe player for Barcelona since returning in the summer. So far he is coasting, though.

Lucho will surely have plenty to say to his team at the break. They have been well below par. Much better is expected of a Barcelona team, even with so many big names missing.

That's the problem with the format of the Copa del Rey at this early stage. The two-legged format allows teams like Barcelona a little more leeway. They should be straight knock-out games.

There's just very little in the way of intensity or urgency from Barcelona. They don't look too bothered. They know that if they don't win tonight they will get the job done in the second leg.

CHANCE FOR HERCULES! Barcelona were caught out at the back on the counter attack, with Gaspar taking the shot inside the box. But Umtiti was there to make the block.

Arda is one of the more experienced players in the Barcelona team this evening. They need him to get a grip of this game. Hercules will be pleased with how it has gone so far.

Alcacer has been their most productive player in the final third. This time he heads well wide of the target, but there is very little in the way of cutting passes through a packed defence.

This hasn't been a comfortable match for Barcelona so far. They have had the majority of possession, but they haven't exactly done a lot with it in and around the penalty area.
