ALEXANDER-ARNOLD AND GONZALO STEER MADRID INTO QUARTER-FINALS
Trent Alexander-Arnold recorded his first Real Madrid assist and Gonzalo Garcia scored, continuing a dream tournament, as the Spanish giants beat Juventus 1-0 and reached the FIFA Club World Cup quarter-finals.
The 21-year-old Garcia powerfully headed home an Alexander-Arnold cross to break the deadlock in the second half and ultimately win the last 16 tie in Miami.
Juventus had started fairly well, with Randal Kolo Muani narrowly chipping over when one-on-one with the goalkeeper and Francisco Conceicao coming close with a header, but they faded badly and finished the game with just two shots on target.
A wave of Madrid chances preceded Garcia’s goal and Michele Di Gregorio made a number of impressive saves after to keep the score 1-0, including keeping out a Fede Valverde overhead kick.
The goal was Garcia’s third goal of the tournament, having never started a game for Real Madrid before this month. Kylian Mbappe’s illness cleared the way for Garcia to play, but the Frenchman did make his return off the bench, and a first appearance under new manager Xabi Alonso.
Madrid will play Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals in New Jersey on Saturday.

FIRST BOOKING OF THE GAME
Bellingham is second to a 50-50 ball in midfield and goes in the book. Whisper it, but a Modric error put him in a bad position.

TCHOUAMENI LETS FLY
From 30 yards, his daisy-cutter is tipped wide by the busy Di Gregorio. A second Madrid goal feels more likely than an equaliser.

JUVE WARNING SHOT
Good hold-up play by Kolo Muani tees up a long-range Gonzelez effort, which swerves wide. Courtois likely had it covered anyway.
