Jamal Musiala insists "there is no one to blame" for the injury he suffered during Bayern Munich's 2-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain last weekend.
The German international suffered a fractured fibula and dislocated ankle after colliding with Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma during the FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final.
Things went from bad to worse for the Bundesliga champions as goals from Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele resulted in them being eliminated from the tournament.
Musiala is now expected to be out of action for at least four months, but he believes that these horrific injuries are just a part of the beautiful game.
"Hello everyone, I wanted to say thank you for all the love and support I got from all of you," he said in a video posted on his social media accounts.
"It really means a lot to me and it is nice to see how the football world comes together in a time like this. I really appreciate it.

"The surgery went really well, I'm in good care, and I wanted to say there is no one to blame for this.
"I think situations like this happen and now I am just going to use the next period of time to build up by strength and my positivity again. I am looking forward to seeing you guys again."
Musiala's injury means he is now in a race against time to return to his best form ahead of Germany's 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
Bayern will get their Bundesliga campaign underway on August 22 against RB Leipzig.
The Bavarian giants finished 13 points clear of defending champions Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga table last term.
Musiala had an impressive return despite an injury-hit 2024/25 campaign, scoring 12 goals and producing four assists in 25 league appearances.
