Kylian Mbappe: Michael Owen says Real Madrid 'could be absolutely unbeatable' if they sign Paris Saint-Germain striker

TNT Sports pundit Michael Owen believes Real Madrid could become unstoppable if they sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain this summer. Los Blancos are bidding to win a La Liga and UEFA Champions League double this season. They are reportedly set to add the France international striker to their ranks and Owen believes he could be the missing piece of the jigsaw.

‘Utter genius!’ - Mbappe lays on ‘absolutely outstanding’ assist for Dembele

Real Madrid could be "absolutely unbeatable" if they manage to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer, claims TNT Sports expert Michael Owen.
The Spanish giants have long been linked with signing the striker from Paris Saint-Germain.
Los Blancos have been largely playing without an out-and-out centre forward this year, following Karim Benzema's departure to Saudi club Al-Ittihad.
England international Jude Bellingham has admirably filled in a more advanced role, but with Mbappe widely expected to leave France this summer as a free agent, the Bernabeu looks a likely destination.
Real are already on course to win La Liga this season, and could yet lift the UEFA Champions League, and Owen says they would become even more formidable if they capture the 25-year-old.
"Don’t forget, they’ve lost someone like Benzema at the start of the season," he told TNT Sports.

Highlights: Vinicius Jr. at the double as Real v Bayern ends all square

"They’ve not really been playing with an out and out centre-forward, a recognised one. They might be getting Mbappe next season. They could be absolutely unbeatable at that point."
Owen was speaking after Real drew 2-2 with Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.
Vinicius Junior had given the visitors the lead in Germany, but goals from Leroy Sane and Harry Kane put Thomas Tuchel's side 2-1 up after half-time.
However, there was late drama to come, with Vinicius Jr. netting a late penalty to ensure the tie will be all square heading to the Bernabeu next week.
It means Los Blanco's hopes of a 15th European Cup remain alive and well, and Owen says Carlo Ancelotti's side have an unerring ability of finding a way to win, even when they are not at their best.

Watch moment Bellingham got in Kane’s ear ahead of penalty

He continued: "They really are the most incredible team, aren’t they? They’re a great team, but they can also play really averagely and still win – for so many years now.
"Manchester City have literally played them off the park virtually every year and only got through once against them.
"Even in the final when they beat Liverpool, [Thibaut] Courtois was their player of the match. Yet, they can turn it on and be absolutely brilliant themselves.
"Also it’s worth bearing in mind that they had a really aging squad not so long ago. All of a sudden, now you think that’s a young team. The likes of [Aurelien] Tchouameni, the likes of [Eduardo] Camavinga.
"That midfield from [Toni] Kroos and [Luka] Modric and Casemiro, that’s a really aging midfield. How are they going to replace them?
"Now, all of a sudden, it looks young and vibrant. They’ve got the legs of [Federico] Valverde. They’ve almost transformed themselves."

‘Too good, too calm’ - Vinicius Jr. fires late penalty as Real peg Bayern back

Glenn Hoddle added: "They also have some experience there of [Antonio] Rudiger, Kroos and Modric to come on and calm things down.
"They’ve got that real nice balance there, but they’re a team also that don’t have to be in control of a game.
"Many, many times I’ve seen them in the last few years when they’re out of control, they’re not playing at their best, like Carlo said, they weren’t at their best today, and then suddenly they go out and look for a magic moment, bang, the ball is in the back of the net.
"You nod off for a second, bang, they’re going to hurt you. That’s why they’ve been so clinical over the last few years."
