Moraes and Taras Stepanenko attack City at pace down the left. The duo almost exchange a wonderful one-two, but Stones is well placed to hack it behind.

Jesus blazes a shot high and wide from a narrow angle after a lovely touch onto Sterling's cross had opened up a half chance.

STAT: This is City's fourth visit to Kiev. They have lost two, winning on just the one occasion at Dynamo Kiev in 2015-16.

City totally dominant at this juncture.

That was some pass from Silva. He made it look like he was looking for the run of Sterling but played a slide-rule reverse pass that completely fooled the Shakhtar rearguard.

Silva sends Jesus rampaging free but the Brazilian takes too long getting his shot away and sees it well smothered by Pyatov.
