Schalke's chance to win this game came and went late in the first half – if they had got that goal then this could have been a belter of a game. As it is, it has been a professional performance.

The introduction of the more defensive-minded Mikel has paradoxically seen Chelsea play a more expansive game as it appears to have given Lampard a new lease of life.
