Rooney with a super run down the left, he skins Miguel with a great turn, and a great cross too that just misses the head of Berbatov AND PARK FLINGS HIMSELF IN WITH A RIGHT-FOOT VOLLEY but a super stop by Guaita! Cesar who?

The first lull in play tonight as what has previously been pretty enthralling slows down with both sides seeking a breather.

Ooooh, Nani's ball inside to Rooney found him with back to goal and he almost flicked a delightful ball to Berbatov but Costa got it away. Down the other end the fans roar as Rafael slides in on Alba and brings the ball clear.

United bound forward again, Nani on the right this time and he rifles low it into the box but Dealbert pokes away. The ball is still in play as Nani puts it back in but a poor, poor ball too deep and well over Rooney far post.

United should be four up now, their decision-making in the final third has been unusually off-kilter. Maybe it's the cold, or the 10 days without a senior game.

Park releases Anderson down the right, he shows good pace to get clear of Mathieu and cuts inside to the area but instead of aiming for Rooney and co in the six-yard box he skews a poorly-selected shot well wide.

Rooney plays Berbatov through, he's only got Dealbert to beat before going one-on-one but again a heavy touch and the defender puts it behind. The corner is taken short but Nani fires a weak shot straight at Guaita.

United switch it right, as Rooney gets it back but telegraphs the through-ball into Dealbert. Dominguez takes on Rio who initially wins but then loses it, a cut-back to the edge of the box but United clear.

A spell of Valencia pressure ends when Vidic hoofs the ball clear. Rooney on the left now...

Berbatov is clean through after a one-two between Rooney and Anderson, but he is off-balance as the keeper rushes out to get a hand on it and the rebound comes off Berbatov for a goal kick. This is unlike Berbatov, his balance and touch were a bit heavy.

Alba with a foul on Nani to get behind on the left, a delay in the whistle so he plays on and crosses for Aduriz who scores but by that point play had been stopped and Amos walking upfield.

Nani tries a lollipop, as Big Ron would call it, but it's more of a toffee apple as he miscontrols it into Dealbert's path.

The game opens up all of a sudden as Valencia spring forward, Rooney losing the ball and DOMINGUEZ STRIKES but off the outside of the post!! Amos had it covered but my that was close!

Banega gives it away! Berbatov in now but for some reason he strokes it a touch wide as he runs through and is forced to look for a pass inside, crossing behind Park in the end as Los Che clear.

Oh dear, Rafael gives it away by playing an aimless ball inside to a sea of white shirts. Groans from the home fans. Valencia have had more possession so far as Dominguez shoots from range AND AMOS IS OUT OF POSITION but he gets across to save at his near post! He was set for a cross as Dominguez was out wide but readjusted well.

BIG CHANCE UNITED! A lovely one-two between Anderson and Rooney sends the Brazilian in but as he opens his body up for the left-foot finish he gets it a touch narrow and fires straight at Guaita ashe tries to place it into the bottom left.
