AF CORSE MISS HYPERPOLE, WHILE ALPINE AND CADILLAC SET PACE

Last year’s Le Mans 24 Hours winners, AF Corisica will start toward the back of the Hypercar grid after failing to make it through qualifying.
The number 83 car won a third consecutive Le Mans title for Ferrari’s Hypercar programme in 2025.
However, they struggled for pace and clean track during the opening qualifying session and finished 17th of 18 cars to miss Friday’s Hyperpole.
Both Peugeot TotalEnergies cars also finished in the bottom three and will miss the Hyperpole battle.
Alpine set the pace in qualifying as Ferdinand Harsburg edged out two Cadillacs in the final laps to finish top of the leaderboard.
Meanwhile, it was a great day for talented female driver Doriane Pin who was quickest in practice and in qualifying fastest in the LMP2 category for the Duqueine Team.
Corvette will also be optimistic for the weekend after Irish driver Peter Dempsey topped the LMGT3 in the Racing Team Turkey By TF car.
The top 15 in each category will fight out for the pole positions in tomorrow’s Hyperpole session.

Harsburg: ‘It means so much to be top’

Alpine driver Ferdinand Harsburg was emotional after booking his place in Hyperpole with the quickest Hypercar time.
He said: ” I want to say thanks to my mom, the person who believed in me first.
I can only do what I do because of how much she believed in me. It feels so special to do this here. Last year, I struggled in Le Mans.
”I was really having a hard time out here, finding my rhythm and my pace. It's just qualifying, but it means so much to me and so much to the team to just be able to be on the top.
”Every session that you're on the top is special.”

Ferrari react to exit

Yifei Ye of the AF Corse team has reacted to last year’s Le Mans winners going out in qualifying.
He said: ”We knew this session would be very difficult for us.
”As we have seen over the last few days, it is very close.
”We have done what we could. We were on a good lap, but unfortunately with some traffic we couldn’t finish the lap.
”We’ll focus on the race. We knew that Le Mans is a long race, and we can always recover. We believe that we have a strong car and will be able to fight for the race.”

Hanson heading out

The Ferrari has had a nightmare session after struggling to remain on the track and breaking track limits.
The chequered flag goes before he can start another lap.

Cadillac lower benchmark

It has been a stellar day for Cadillac and Jordan Taylor tops the Hypercar leaderboard after knocking a tenth of Rast’s leading time.

Rast goes quickest

The BMW has lowered the quickest qualifier mark to 3:23.4 but that could be lowered as drivers look to set one more quick lap with three minutes remaining.

Pressure on Hanson

The AF Corsica has one lap to ‘push’ and move out of the bottom three if the Ferrari is going to make a place in Hyperpole.
It could be a big upset if the Ferrari exits at this stage.

Competitive elimination zone

Currently the top 15 cars are separated by less than a second. Currently the three cars who are heading out with 11 minutes remaining are the Genesis Magma 19 car of Juncadella, the Ferrari of Hanson and Peugeot of Jakobsen.

Rast, Deletraz and Riberas in touch

Less than one tenth of a second separates the top four cars early in this qualifying session. Currently it’s a one-two for Aston Martin with Gamble and Riberas.
The Cadillac of Deletraz and the BMW M Team of Rast are firmly in touch.

Gamble goes quickest in first lap

Tom Gamble driving the 007 Aston Martin car has set his stool out with a time of 3:24.1, which is five tenths quicker than his nearest challenger on the first qualifying lap.

Hypercar cars are underway

We are underway with the Hypercars who will also have 30 minutes to make it into the top 15 for a Hyperpole position.
Only three cars will be eliminated from the 18 starters.

Dempsey quickest of LMGT3

Peter Dempsey held the quickest time for the majority of the LMGT3 qualifying in his Corvette.
He was just two tenths quickest than the number 77 car driven by Powell and the 23 Aston Martin by Newell.
Missing qualifying was two McLarens (numbers 62 & 79), two Ferrari (150 &57), three Corvette (33, 2, 13), an Aston Martin and a Mercedes.

Perfect job for Pin

Doriane Pin was the quickest qualifier in the number 30 car in the LMP2 and receives a round of applause from her garage after a perfect day of driving. She finished five tenths quicker than the number 37 car driven by Aguilera.
The cars missing out on the top 15 are cars numbers 44, 25, 48 and 3 and they are all eliminated.

Session coming to an end

Some of the LMGT3 drivers will be very unhappy with this qualifying session as they scramble for a top 15 finish.
There are some big teams who are going to fail to make Hyperpole.

Doriane Pin leads LMP2 category

The 22-year-old French young driver is driving the Oreca-07-Gibson this evening in qualifying. The female driver made her mark is qualifying and is five tenths clear of her nearest competition with five minutes remaining.

Early pace setters

The LMP2 and LMGT3 cars are now making a decision if the early time that they’ve set is enough.
The 37 car of CLX Motorsport currently has the quickest time of 3:35.229 in the LMP2 category.
Meanwhile, in the 34 car of Racing Team Turkey By TF is leading the LMGT3 category in 3:55.744

Qualifying underway

Action is underway. It’s set to be an unpredictable session on a packed course for the LMP2 and LMGT3 cars. Teams are expecting five 'push/fast' laps to try and obtain a qualifying time good enough to finish inside the top 15.

One driver, one session

There is a tactical element to this year’s Le Mans qualifying session. Teams have to field different drivers in each of the qualifying and two hyperpole sessions.
The least qualified of the three drivers are required to take part in the first qualifying session.
Will teams leave their most experience driver for the final hyperpole session and risk going out of hyperpole?
We are just minutes from qualifying getting underway and teams want to set a fast time early in qualifying.

Kristensen feels that 'Cadillac mean business'

TNT Sports pundit and nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen believes that Cadillac could be the team to beat in qualifying tonight.
The 34 car was the quickest in Hypercar practice earlier today.

Drama during practice

The Circuit de la Sarthe has already caused issues in practice earlier today. Several teams were up against time to repair their cars in time for this evening’s qualifying session.

How qualifying works

We will start with the LMP2 and LMGT3 cars who have a 30-minute session starting at 17:45 BST. The top 15 cars in each class progress to tomorrow’s Hyerpole.
The Hypercars will enter the track around 18:30 BST. They will also be bidding for a top 15 spot during a 30-minute qualifying session.
