Defending champion Jannik Sinner defeats Jenson Brooksby in straight sets to reach the round of 16 at Wimbledon 2026

Jannik Sinner continued his title defence with a straight-sets victory over Jenson Brooksby on No.1 Court.

The Italian was always in control as he posted a 6-4 6-3 6-4 in two hours and 13 minutes.

The world number one broke for a 4-3 lead and went on to serve out a 39-minute opener with ease.

It was a similar story in the second with the four-time major winner again making the breakthrough in the seventh game before breaking for a second time to move two sets up.

Brooksby offered a brief riposte when he broke at the start of the third and he denied Sinner as he served for the match, only to come unstuck trying to level at five apiece.

Sinner will now face Shintaro Mochizuki in the round of 16.
