Phew. So Stanislas Wawrinka reaches the first Grand Slam quarter-final of his career.
6-4
WINNER! Wawrinka sets up a first match point with a huge roar as he fires a foerhand passing shot inside out across court at the second attempt. But Querrey puts up the lob when Wawrinka comes forward and the chance goes begging when the Swiss player can't get it down. A forehand into the net from Querrey though hands Wawrinka a second chance. And finally WAWRINKA IS THROUGH TO THE QUARTER-FINALS finding a backhand volley winner at the second attempt.
5-4
Wawrinka holds to love before jogging back to his chair potentially just one game away from the quarter-finals. Querrey looks mentally exhausted as he fires a poor forehand well out of court. He's only had three five-set matches in his entire career so it's no wonder he's finding this a struggle. And, after the change of ends, he will have to serve to stay this match
4-4
Wawrinka thinks he's earned himself a stunning break point with a forehand passing shot down the line that just dips onto the baseline. But the ball is belatedly called out and Wawrinka doesn't challenge, allowing Querrey to go on and hold with a forehand winner
4-3
Oh, what a surprise, another hold of serve! It's beginning to seem distinctly possible that this match might never end. It's not just an hour and a half before the night session is due to get underwway on Arthur Ashe and we still have this match to finish and Venus Williams v Francesca Schiavone to come. Oh, Wawrinka holds by the way.
3-3
Querrey comes up with a cracking backhand passing shot winner, threaded across court past the diving Wawrinka before dropping to the ground in exhaustion. And Wawrinka sends a backhand volley long before firing an overhead smash into the net to help Querrey to another hold
3-2
Warinka holds once again, this time to 30, before heading back to the chair to have another consultation with the trainer about that troublesome right thigh
2-2
Querrey slaps down a double fault on the first point of the game before recovering with some big serving and going on to hold when Wawrinka sends a forehand return long of the baseline. The Swiss player had the trainer out on court at the change of ends and was discussing the strapping on his thigh. That ought to give Querrey some encouragement
2-1
A first chance to break goes begging for Querrey as Wawrinka comes up with a cracking forehand winner across court while the Swiss player saves a second with a great backhand volley down the line that Querrey can only return wide. Wawrinka saves a third chance with an ace down the centre of the court before eventually going on to hold when Querrey hits a forehand long past the approaching Wawrinka
1-1
Querrey holds to 15 for his opening service game of the set, firing a huge serve out wide before going back behind Wawrinka with an even bigger forehand also across court
1-0
A couple of tired-looking ground-strokes from Querrey (a backhand and then a forehand into the net) help Wawrinka on his way to a hold to open this final set, a hold he completes with an ace down the centre of the court
4-6
SET! Querrey sets up a first set point on his own serve with an unreturnable serve, although he squanders the chance when Wawrinka runs around the ball and fires a forehand return of serve straight down the line. The American also wastes a sixth chance with a double fault. But eventually he find an ace on his seventh attempt and after three hours and 36 minutes, it is two sets all and we're headed for a decisive fifth set
4-5
Querrey finds a stunning backhand cross court drop shot that lands literally milimetres from the net, to deny Wawrinka the hold, and produces a massive forehand winner down the line off the return of serve to deny the Swiss player for a second time. But eventually Wawrinka does hold with a 94mph ace out wide and Querrey will have to serve for this second set after the change of ends
40-40
Wawrinka has completely lost the plot now as he sends three straight ground-strokes long of the baseline to gift Querrey two set points. The first goes begging when the American fires a foerhand return of serve into the net. And Wawrinka saved the second when he gets incredibly lucky with a forehand that catches the top of the tape and just bounces over. Wawrinka saves a fourth set point with an ace, while Querrey squanders a fifth by running round the ball and firing a forehand into the net
3-5
A first game point goes begging for Querrey as he is forced to fire long after some angry ground-strokes from Wawrinka. But the American does hold at the second attempt with a vicious inside out forehand winner. Wawrinka will have to serve to stay in this fourth set next
3-4
BREAK! A poor game from Wawrinka as Querrey takes advantage of some negative play to set up two break points. And the American breaks at the first attempt when Wawrinka does nothing with a forehand volley before sending a stretched backhand well wide into the tramlines
3-3
Guess what? Yep, we've got another hold of serve! Shocker! Querrey's second serve out wide (exactly where the first one when by the way) is sent wide down the line off the backhand wing from Wawrinka and we're back level once again
3-2
An 11th ace from Wawrinka, a 128mph serve out wide, sees the Swiss player keep himself just in front in this set as we head towards another tight-looking finish
2-2
Again Querrey holds, this time with relative ease. All matches, of course, go through ebbs and flows but this one seems to be more extreme that most with the players almost appearing to wait for something to happen rather than going out and doing anything about it! And we're still level in this fourth set
2-1
Wawrinka continues to struggle on serve and he hands Querrey a break point on a plate with an inside out forehand wide across court. But the Swiss player saves it, getting a little lucky with two net cords in a row before eventually hussling the American out of the point at the net. And he goes on to hold with a forehand winner
