THE 2025 FRENCH OPEN CHAMPION COCO GAUFF
Gauff is very emotional, says she's just happy to be here and that it means a lot.
The American congratulates Sabalenka on a good fight and says every time they play it's a tough battle.
She also pays tribute to her family and her fans and says she didn't think she could do it.
She thanks the crowd for the love with a 'Merci beaucoup' and paraphrases Tyler the Creator with something along the lines of: 'If I ever told you I had a doubt inside me... I must be lying.' She says she must have been lying to herself ... and she could definitely do it.

SEVEN-TIME RG CHAMPION CHRIS EVERT REACTS ON TNT SPORTS COMMS
"That match was so stressful - but she found a way. She deserves to win this one, she was brought up on clay and has been a finalist before.
"We knew when we saw her at 15 she would be winning multiple slams, multiple majors. It is quite incredible, she really kept her calm after losing the first set. She’s a fighter, she realised she needed to match Aryna’s power, she did that and stayed calm under pressure."

COCO GAUFF CROWNED 2025 ROLAND-GARROS CHAMPION AFTER DOWNING ARYNA SABALENKA
Coco Gauff secured her second Grand Slam title and her first at the French Open with a thrilling comeback triumph over world number one Aryna Sabalenka.
The American second seed hit back with a combination of outstanding defence and solid tennis to stun the Belarusian 6-7 6-2 6-4 in two hours and 38 minutes.
Sabalenka began with the confidence of a woman who had just ended the three-year reign of the Queen of Clay, Iga Swiatek and she rampaged into a 4-1, 40-0 lead.
Gauff belatedly responded as the Belarusian suddenly lost her rhythm to allow the world number two to claw back the double break and level at 4-4.
Sabalenka twice served for the set but became increasingly distressed as Gauff’s incredible defence helped her force a tie-break.
The world number one looked in trouble at 1-4 down but rampaged back to take the breaker 7-5 and a rollercoaster opener in 77 minutes.
Gauff’s resistance had galvanised her belief and it was her turn to surge into a 4-1 lead as Sabalenka’s unforced error count threatened to run out of control.
There was no late twist as the 21-year-old served out to love to force a decider where she broke in Game 3 to hit the front for the first time.
Sabalenka fought back with the help of a net cord to level at 3-3 but Gauff immediately broke to love before going on to serve out a topsy-turvy final game on her second match point.
It stirred echoes of her 2023 US Open win where she came from behind to break Sabalenka’s heart, with the Belarusian left to lament a disjointed display that saw her leak 70 unforced errors.

GAME, SET AND MATCH! - SABALENKA 7-6 2-6 4-6 GAUFF
Sabalenka was always going to come out firing and a brutal return cranks up the heat at 15-30.
Gauff comes up with a timely big serve to make Pulp (30-30) and benefits from a miss-hit forehand to surge forward and flash away a crosscourt forehand.
Sabalenka lets rip on the return at match point down
The second seed then seals her maiden RG title and her second and somehow clips the baseline.
The top seed booms away a winner to earn the break point, but then fluffs her lines on the return.
Aryna then blinks badly on a timid return into the net and Gauff gets it done on her second match point when Saba blasts wide!

SABALENKA 7-6 2-6 4-5 GAUFF
Sabalenka nails a crisp forehand winner and motors to a 40-15 advantage.
Coco jumps into a return to force a rushed one long and then has her interest piqued when Sabalenka skews a backhand wide.
The American can only prod a defensive lob into the alley off a smash and Aryna does indeed pose the serve-out question with a fierce forehand to the postage stamp.

SABALENKA 7-6 2-6 3-5 GAUFF
The finish line is tantalisingly close for Coco Gauff.
The 21-year-old opens with an edgy double fault but lands a clutch serve before serious wheels help her track down a stretch volley and sizzle a crosscourt pass to force an error.
An excellent forehand winner pulls her clear before Sabalenka again fires long.

BREAK! – SABALENKA 7-6 2-6 3-4 GAUFF
What a response!
Gauff allows Sabalenka to implode with more tame errors off the backhand and a double fault.
The second seed then steps in on a brilliant, short-angled crosscourt backhand to break to love and regain the initiative heading into the business end of this final.

BREAK! – SABALENKA 7-6 2-6 3-3 GAUFF
Gauff fights back from 0-30 but is unfortunate when a tired-looking return clips the tape and causes a rushed Coco to slice wide.
Sabalenka unleashes a massive inside-out forehand and this time the second seed can’t keep it on the island.
All square, but that was rotten luck for Gauff at a key moment in this match.

SABALENKA 7-6 2-6 2-3 GAUFF
Gauff continues to disrupt the Sabalenka power-game with incredible reflex on the defence and fine use of the short slice.
The American tees up another break point with a wonderful backhand pass down the line but Aryna staves it off with a big serve.
Gauff produces a clever pick-up off the dropper to force the volley error, but Saba survives again with a one-two backhand punch down the line.
The Belarusian knows she can’t afford to fall a double break down and she wriggles out of dodge with another powerhouse serve that is followed by a return just long from Coco.
16:37
SABALENKA 7-6 2-6 1-3 GAUFF
Gauff opens the door with a double fault for 15-15 but Aryna misfires twice to move up to 57 unforced errors.
She decides she’s had enough and strolls to her chair to find a different racquet.
Gauff double faults for a second time but then plays a clever crosscourt dropper that lures the low backhand error into the net from the top seed.

Gauff hits the front!
The American continues to produce sensational defence, trading blows with the heavy-hitting top seed and luring confused errors.
The Belarusian zaps a backhand down the line for 30-15 but drags a backhand pass wide after being shocked by Coco’s insane pick-up.
The errors flow from there with a backhand into the net and a double fault giving the 21-year-old the first breakthrough in Set 3.

BREAK! – SABALENKA 7-6 2-5 GAUFF
Gauff’s return has really torn through Sabalenka’s serve as this match has progressed.
The world number two remains poker-faced as her opponent screams in anguish at another backhand failure.
It’s a recurring theme as she flashes into the net again to cough up triple break point before another miscue flies long to take Aryna over 50 unforced errors for the match.
Gauff will now serve for the set.
