CARLOS ALCARAZ REACTS TO MUSETTI RETIREMENT AND REACHING ANOTHER MAJOR FINAL
"It’s never great winning the match like this," he said during his post-match on-court interview.
"Lorenzo is a great player. He has done an incredible clay season. He’s one of those few players who achieved at least the semi-finals in the biggest events on clay.
"That shows what an incredible player he is. I wish him all the best, a speedy recovery, and we are going to enjoy his tennis [again] pretty soon."
"The first two sets were really tough," he continued.
"I had chances to break and be up in the match. I couldn't make the most of it. He was playing great tennis. When I won the second there was a bit of relief. I knew what I had to do, to push him to the limit and be aggressive; not let him dominate the game and be myself.
"I was more calm. I could see the picture clearer and play great tennis at the beginning of the third set."

On tonight's other semi-final showdown between Sinner and Djokovic, Alcaraz added:
This match-up is one of the best we have in tennis. I’m going to take tactics from that match. We all are going to enjoy that match, because they're going to play great tennis."
Asked about being one step from retaining the trophy, he said: "It’s been three intense weeks. One step to make [now]. I am feeling great. I am playing great tennis and I have a lot of confidence right now. I’ll give everything on Sunday.
"I’ve been doing great things in this tournament, and it’s time to give 100% and go for the final."

CARLOS ALCARAZ RETURNS TO THE ROLAND-GARROS FINAL AFTER MUSETTI RETIREMENT
Carlos Alcaraz moved to within one win of retaining the French Open title after Lorenzo Musetti retired in the fourth set of what was proving to be a thrilling semi-final under the roof at Court Philippe-Chatrier.
The Spaniard hit back from a set down to lead 4-6 7-6 6-0 2-0 when the Italian succumbed to physical struggles after two hours and 25 minutes.
Musetti served big to keep Alcaraz at bay in the early phase of the opener and got his reward with the break at 5-4 when the second seed ended up caving to the scoreboard pressure.
The Spaniard responded early in the second but was immediately pegged back before suffering more frustration as he failed to serve out at 6-5.
The four-time Grand Slam champion found another gear to take the tie-break 7-3 before hitting a purple patch to rampage through the third and pocket the bagel.
Musetti’s movement appeared laboured towards the end of the third and when he was broken in the second game of the fourth his big day ended on a sour note as he offered the handshake.
Alcaraz moves into his fifth major final where he will meet Jannik Sinner or Novak Djokovic.
