Guy Forget plans to step down as Captain of France's Fed Cup after the 2005 campaign because of conflicting Davis Cup commitments next year. The 39- year-old said it was not possible to combine the jobs becaue of overlapping schedules in the two events.

"If the schedules had made it possible, I would have loved to stay as Amelie Mauresmo has decided to commit herself to the Fed Cup," Forget told reporters on Tuesday.
"But leading the two teams at the same time is not reasonable. It would be unfair for the guys and the girls."
Forget, an 11-times winner on the ATP Tour, was appointed captain of the French Fed Cup team in 1999. He led the women to Fed Cup success in 2003 and also into this year's final, where they lost 3-2 to hosts Russia in Moscow.
Arnaud Boetsch, Georges Goven and 1983 French Open champion Yannick Noah are among the favourites to replace Forget as Fed Cup captain.
