WILSON CRASHES OUT AFTER HIGHFIELD DEFEAT
Kyren Wilson crashed out of the British Open following a 4-1 defeat by world number 69 Liam Highfield.
The Warrior was outclassed by the left-hander, who progressed to the last 16 of a conventional ranking event for the first time since the 2023 Wuhan Open.
Highfield, who compiled a 147 during qualifying for this tournament, came flying out of the blocks with a 120 clearance drawing first blood.
Wilson took control of frame two with a run of 52, but his opponent cleared with 34 to pinch it on the pink.
The Warrior battled back with 78 to halve his deficit, though Highfield responded with 89 to move to the brink of victory, and runs of 56 and 34 did the trick for the two-time ranking quarter-finalist.
