Thepchaiya Un-Nooh set a new record in the modern era of professional snooker when he became the first player to miss out on a 147 by missing the final black for the third time in his career. The Thai speed merchant produced a rousing break of 140, only to see the final black stick in the jaws of a top pocket during his 6-4 win over Lei Peifan in qualifying for the International Championship.

Thepchaiya Un-Nooh became the first player in snooker history to miss out on a 147 break by missing the final black for a third time.
He was chasing the maximum break for the fifth time in his career on Monday evening in the International Championship qualifiers at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.
But Un-Nooh came up narrowly short of the sport's 206th 147 in the second frame of his 6-4 win over Lei Peifan in qualifying for November's ranking event in China.
The talented world No. 38 overran the white from potting the pink in baulk before opting to go for a thin cutback on the black, rather than take the black to right middle.
But he was forced to suffer agony as the black stuck in the jaws when it seemed more likely to drop.
It is a familiar feeling for the prodigious Thai potter, who was crestfallen after missing out on £44,000 when he failed to slot the final black against Neil Robertson at the 2015 UK Championship in York.

He suffered the same fate against Anthony McGill in the 2016 World Championship qualifiers in Sheffield.
Un-Nooh has made four maximum breaks since turning professional in 2009.
He is currently in line for the £5,000 prize for highest break at the International Championship.
