Thepchaiya Un-Nooh made a "genius" 147 in the penultimate frame of the 2026 World Open final against Ronnie O'Sullivan as he went on to lift the title.

In what was a thrilling encounter in Yushan, China, both players had looked in tremendous form.

First, O’Sullivan raced into the lead before Un-Nooh roared back.

Then it was O’Sullivan’s chance to make a comeback and, with the game in the balance, Un-Nooh produced the moment of the match.

After O’Sullivan began the 16th frame, Un-Nooh produced perfectly judged shots to make his way round the board.

Perhaps his most impressive shot came when he delicately caressed the black in to take his score to 96.

”What a shot that is. That’s one of the shots of the season,” Dave Hendon said on TNT Sports commentary.

Hendon added shortly afterwards on a potential 147: ”This would be impressive at any time but at the sharp end of the biggest match of his life, all the more so.”

Un-Nooh seemingly comfortably cleared the rest of the board and completed an extraordinary 147.

”This is just spell-binding stuff, isn’t it,” Neal Foulds said on TNT Sports commentary as Un-Nooh potted the final few balls. ”It really is. The opening red was out of this world and the break has been on a similar wavelength really.”

The crowd loudly cheered as Un-Nooh completed the 147 and O'Sullivan rose from his seat with the two fist-bumping to commemorate the achievement.

After the 147 was completed, Hendon said: ”That was genius from the man from Thailand. Absolutely sensational stuff and he’s now on the cusp of winning his first major ranking title.”

His 147 continued a blistering output from both players, with it being the fifth century in six frames.

”That was unbelievable what we’ve just seen there,” Foulds said. ”It’s hard to imagine anything like it.”

And he wrapped up his title with yet another century, this time of 131.

There was a smile on Un-Nooh's face as he lined up the pink to seal the victory and the crowd rose to their feet. O'Sullivan also came out to congratulate Un-Nooh on his victory.
