Kyren Wilson was at his dominant best to down David Grace 4-0 within an hour and set up a last-32 clash with Stephen Maguire.
Wilson immediately began building a comfortable advantage, capitalising on a fortuitous pot on a red to accrue a break of 64 before breaking down on frame ball after having to awkwardly cue over the black.
Still, the world champion covered his tracks and was soon back amongst the balls to put the frame to bed – which he did with ease, registering another half-century.
The second was a much scrappier affair, and Grace looked to have a foothold in the tie when he built an 11-point lead, but Wilson cleared up to the pink to snatch a two-frame advantage.
From there, it was smooth sailing for Wilson – he posted 29 before playing to safety and was soon back out of his seat to build a subsequent break of 72, moving within a frame of victory.
Grace had an opportunity to cut the deficit when Wilson left a red hanging over the bottom-right pocket at the start of the fourth frame, but he failed to follow up with the black, as the Northern Ireland Open winner took to the table for his final visit.
He set himself up for a potential 133 and cleared the ton with ease, but set himself on a tricky green before eventually breaking down – wrapping up a comfortable victory in 56 minutes.
"Pretty solid," was how Wilson described his win in the Eurosport studio and said he was "quite happy with that".
Asked how he feels boasting the world champion tag, he added: "It's a complete honour, something for me that will never get old.
"One of the things that stuck with me, Sophie [Wilson's wife] asked how I felt afterwards. I said, 'I can die happy, if I die tomorrow, I can die happy'.
"I don't want that to happen, but [I'm] enjoying being world champion."
Wilson will face 31st seed Maguire, who likewise wrapped up a 4-0 win over his opponent, Matthew Selt.
Elsewhere on Tuesday, Jack Lisowski also advanced through a whitewash victory over Jordan Brown.
Lisowski remains in the hunt for his maiden ranking title and displayed accomplished ball-striking in his run to the UK Championship quarter-finals, where he was eventually ousted by Mark Allen.
The Englishman looked accomplished in his first-round encounter in Edinburgh, however, as he wrapped up victory in swift fashion to set up a clash against Wuhan Open runner-up Si Jiahui – who earlier downed Ma Hailong by a 4-1 scoreline.

Mark Selby joined Lisowski and Wilson in the first-round whitewash club, as the four-time world champion swept Stuart Carrington aside 4-0.
The turning point in the match could have come in the second frame, with Carrington 57-0 and then 67-43 to the good.
But with just enough left on the table to seal the frame without snookers, Selby secured a superb clearance, including a terrific long green that wobbled in the jaws before falling.
From thereon, Selby constructed the break of the afternoon, sinking a 136 total clearance to put himself one away from the last 32.
And he sealed it with a comfortable 93 break, as Carrington failed to get a point on the board in the final two frames.

The former world champion will face the winner of Zhou Yuelong and Yuan Sijun who are in first-round action on Tuesday evening.
Meanwhile, Ding Junhui is through to face Jackson Page in the last 32, defeating Mark Davis without concession, while the Welshman survived a comeback from Robert Milkins to progress 4-2.
Home favourite Dean Young has avoided a second-round clash with Ronnie O'Sullivan, after the seven-time world champion pulled out of the competition.
Young beat Pang Junxu 4-2 in his last-64 game and will take on more Chinese opposition in the form of qualifier Xing Zihao on Wednesday.
