How Kyren Wilson took matters into his own hands when a fly got in his way at Shanghai Masters - 'Hard enough playing Judd Trump'

Kyren Wilson, in danger of being swatted away by Judd Trump, was finding it hard enough playing the world No. 1 in the Shanghai Masters final. And, after an attempted snooker from his opponent, Wilson was left with another problem - an insect on the green baize.

World No. 1 Trump had left a narrow gap for Wilson to hit the yellow ball at the far end of the table.

However, as Wilson, trailing 7-3, lined up what the TNT Sports commentary team described as a "very important shot", a fly landed next to the cue ball.

"The insect is making it even more difficult than it already is," said Neal Foulds on commentary.

As the referee strode towards the cue ball to look at the developing situation, Wilson took matters into his own hands, deftly and mercilessly swotting the fly.

Dave Hendon sitting next to Foulds said: "As if it’s not hard enough playing Judd Trump, 7-3 down...

”Well, that might be the end of that. One less opponent to worry about, maybe."

The referee, unfazed, quickly removed the dead insect from the table in front of an applauding crowd so defending champion Wilson could get back to work.

And Wilson, who had trailed Trump by four frames after the first session, has his work cut out in the best-of-21 final, live on TNT Sports and HBO Max.

The 34-year-old went on to lose the 11th frame, but he pulled two frames back to make it 8-5 to Trump.

World No. 7 Wilson beat Ali Carter 11-9 in last year's Shanghai Masters final.
