CAN HIGGINS CLAIM THIRD MASTERS TITLE 20 YEARS AFTER FIRST?
Judd Trump has won one world title in his golden career, but has been denied greater riches in the sport by a 'Class of '92' whose desire to compete for the sport's greatest prizes shows no sign of diminishing at the age of 50. The world No. 1 led John Higgins 3-0 and 5-3 in an epic semi-final on Saturday, but saw the Scotsman fight back to complete a rousing 6-5 win at a packed Alexandra Palace.

'I'm not sure he wanted that' - Higgins pots unexpected red off the side

WILSON 5-3 HIGGINS
Kyren Wilson threw two big punches at the end of the Masters final afternoon session to lead the tie 5-3 and restore the two-frame lead he built earlier on.
Higgins took the early advantage with a break of 58, before sealing another half-century break, but it did not win him the frame. Wilson levelled with his own break of 58 and then moved ahead, before another 50+ break for Higgins went to waste, as The Warrior moved two frames clear.
During a frustrating period in the match, which included a 40-minute frame, Higgins clawed his way back in contention, but 2024 world champion Wilson fired back with back-to-back centuries (103 and 111) to restore his breathing space ahead of the evening session, live on TNT Sports and discovery+ from 18:45 UK time.
WILSON 4-3 HIGGINS (102-0)
Brilliant stuff. Back-to-back centuries for Kyren, who has taken this game by the scruff of the neck!
WILSON 4-3 HIGGINS (65-0)
John, glued to his seat, can only watch on as Kyren rattles though the remaining reds and takes frame ball.
He's looking to apply the finishing touches, and could be on for another hefty break here.
WILSON 4-3 HIGGINS (39-0)
Kyren is racing into a 5-3 lead here, kickstarted by another long red.
He's found his rhythm just at the right time, as he looks to restore his two-frame advantage before the end of the session.

One more frame of this afternoon session, before we return at 19:00 UK time for the evening session.
Watch live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
WILSON 4-3 HIGGINS
Done and dusted.
Kyren doesn't get a tournament-high break, but he does get the first century of the match (103) - his seventh of the tournament - to regain his lead.
WILSON 3-3 HIGGINS (81-0)
Kyren has the frame won, but after a couple of difficult frames for The Warrior, a big break would do him the world of good here ahead of the evening session.
137 is the highest break of the tournament so far, set on day one, and Kyren is well on to beat it with a potential 139.
WILSON 3-3 HIGGINS (59-0)
58 is the match-high break, of which we have had three, and Kyren will surely beat that here... he does, as he moves 59 points clear.
Colour, red and a colour should do this for Kyren.
WILSON 3-3 HIGGINS (45-0)
Kyren starts this one well. He's put away a few reds and blacks to build a 40+ lead, but the rest of the reds in the pack still haven't moved an inch.
He decides to hedge his bets and thunder the cue ball into the cluster when picking off the final available red, takes the green and smashes into the pack again and now he can get to work with a very nicely laid table.
WILSON 3-3 HIGGINS
This time, it's John's turn to steal, and he takes the frame with an impressive clearance to level matters!
WILSON 3-2 HIGGINS (37-0)
The black evades Kyren and his break ends at 35. A decent effort considering how this frame started.
Plenty of points remain up for grabs for John, who is looking to level this with two frames to play before the conclusion of the afternoon session.
WILSON 3-2 HIGGINS (30-0)
Kyren is beginning to tick. He seems to have found a path through this tetchy frame and is slowly stretching his lead.
WILSON 3-2 HIGGINS (2-0)
Kyren chalks up another point, but that's all there is to report from another drab frame.
The TNT Sports commentary team has just informed us that Kyren's average shot time stands at a hefty 33 seconds.
WILSON 3-2 HIGGINS (1-0)
"It's a very awkward period in the match, both struggling to find any fluency," says Studd on TNT Sports, as Kyren misses a long red.
WILSON 3-2 HIGGINS (1-0)
What a pot from Kyren, who sends a bullet of a red across the entire table to bottom right.
That could be what this frame needs. He then plays a safety on the brown.
WILSON 3-2 HIGGINS (0-0)
We could be in for another lengthy frame here...
Both players have started this one safely, with neither looking to take much risk.
WILSON 3-2 HIGGINS
We're having a re-rack at the start of the sixth.
WILSON 3-2 HIGGINS
John claws one back after a near 40-minute fifth frame!
"Not pretty, but pretty important for John Higgins," Philip Studd claims on TNT Sports.
